Question Need your guys help! Radio overheated, need the TSB# or Recall article #

Hi there guys, my name is Brandon Aka Showya. I am a Ford Motor Company employee in Kansas City, Missouri. I need your help here......

I read a few days, weeks, maybe a month ago about the factory head unit overheating. Well you can guess but you would all be right..... Mine overheated last Sunday morning on the way home. All the lights in the LED display went off, the dash lights stayed on like the radio was turned off and get this... the radio well cd changer was still playing? ? ? I went to my local friendly Ford dealer today which shall remain nameless since they probably read this. I know somewhere there is a recall or TSB... Just need some help to find it so once again I can show up the guys behind the counter. Also just got my cracked door replaced to 4 months ago. It still looks like new....fingers crossed. Thanks in advance from Kansas City.

Didn't know there was a recall on the radio?

Mine went out the other day and now all the speakers play but the front right one. Weird.

When mine gets hot (I guess that's what happens) and I'm listening to a CD, the CD will continue to play, but I can't change tracks or make it stop playing. The lights will still work and so does everything else, I just can't stop listening to whatever is playing. The only way that I can fix it is to crank up the AC and close off the two vents by the doors. After about 2-3 minutes with the AC blasting it will start working again. Also, I always get a message on the display that says "No CD-DJ" I assume it means "no CD or there is a disc jammed" but I'm not sure. This happens occasionally and if I just keep screwing with it, it will start working again.

Later,
Roger

Hey there when your radio reads "NO CD DJ" that means there is no CD in unit, but in your case it sounds more like an electronic error or mishap. I read on here somewhere there is a TSB maybe not a recall, but but a technical service bulletin. Anyways the guy at the dealer told me today that since my LED display is slowing fading away, very dim at night that they would replace head unit but they take mine out and send it in leaving me with no tunes for who knows how long? Thanks and I will keep LQQking......

Hi guys, well it happened again only now I had a passenger that could not believe his eyes! First, the radio display started to fade out then BOOM! You could not see what was on the display, however you could hear the radio only the volume was reduced greatly. Now I call the dealer 24 hour dealer and they say bring it by. When I was at the stoplight less than a block from service bay, guess what?? Back to normal operation, what a trip and all the guy said was not broke we can't fix. What a joke and the display was very warm, therfore I am very concerned and I am calling Ford 1-800 # Monday morning before something else happens.

Thanks and now I am off to the 2001 Kansas Speedway races!

24 hour dealer? Geezus, what will they come up w/ next. You'd think that this dealer would be more inclinded for replacing parts under warranty issues always being open like that. 1. it would bring more business, and 2. it just seems that being open like that is a customer service issue so they'd want to please you.
