Cool The First 2001 I've Seen At The Track

A red 2001 L shows up at the track this afternoon with no cool down and turns a 13.31 @ 105.8. It was 90 degrees with 70% humidity. He claims the only mod is a K&N panel filter. He only had 570 miles on it. I told him if it's that fast with only a filter in those conditions then it's definitely a keeper. I can't remember anyone on these boards running that fast in the heat with just a panel filter. Go figure. Most people were running slower than normal because of the conditions. Traction sucked too. The dragsters were having to back pedal or totally get out of it to keep from hitting the wall.

Thumbs up

Wow! Those _are_ impressive #s for the poor conditions. Pretty typical of what we see here in N. Texas this time of year, too.

I know that truck is faster than mine. I don't have a lot of mods, but the typical chip/filter deal.

Impressive!

Cool

Tell me!! I almost wanted to say get out and pop the hood so I can see. While we're at it let's take a look at that computer too. I talked to him for a while and either he was telling the truth or a damn good liar. The 570 miles makes it even more believeable since he just got the truck. He said he put 200 miles of it on today.

Highly Doubt That!!!!

I don't know about those #s. Smells fishy!!! A 2001 L that was at the track two weeks ago only ran a 14.30 and that was with poor track conditions (98 degrees and 100% humdity). I ran a 14.02 with my '00 L----STOCK. I was VERY pleased with those numbers considering the conditions. I am willing to bet you that guy was running a chip and filter.

If he turned those kind of numbers with a bone stock 2001 in those conditions, he is going to get a warranty engine
There is a HUGE difference in a truck with 500 miles and one with 5000 miles. If it has loosened up that much at 500, doesn't look pretty

Look for a little blue tank mounted somewhere in the truck!
