RACING STRIPES ON L's
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT RACING STRIPES AND HOW MUCH DO THEY COST. IM GOING TO GET TWO BLACK 8 INCH STRIPES ON MY LIGHTING NOT PAINTED JUST DECAL. ANY OTHER COLORS I SHOULD GO WITH?
I was going to be a SMARTass and say that you never even told us the color of your truck...but then I realized that your login username is WHITEL, so I guess I'm the JACKass (see, all in good fun!). Anyways, I was going to say that if I remember right, Dogleg has a red L with yellow stripes on it (custom though) that you might want to search for pics of. If you're going to do stripes (still not totally sure how two "Dodge Ram-esque" (as someone else put it) stripes would look), you might want to consider something like blue instead, since black seems like it might contrast the white too much...yet be too plain at the same time. From what I've seen around here, I think every other Silver L except for the guys on this board is sold in New England, since I've only seen one black, one red, and no white L's since I bought mine last october (I personally know 3 other people within 10 miles of my house that have silver L's!! arrgghh!!!). I've been thinking about having some sort of custom paint work done to mine to further separate it from all the other Silvers...on top of the hood I'm planning to get in about 2 weeks. I have a few paint ideas I've been kicking around lately, and if I actually have the ***** to get one of them sprayed, I'll post pics...but till then I'm going to have to keep them on the down low. Hope you understand; hope this helps. later...

There is a guy on the board going by Flats Man and he has twin stripes on his truck. It's not a lightning but , a really great looking truck. And it will show you what to expect with yours.
I would also suggest that you run a smaller side stripe beside the larger one to soften the look.
Take care,
Alvin

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE IDEAS GUYS, AND I HAVE TO AGREE WITH DOGLEG, FLATS HAS A VERY NICE TRUCK. AND THE IDEA OF PUTTING SMALLER STRIPES NEXT TO THE LARGE ONES SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN.
MXRacer,
Just food for thought......
If you're thinking of solid (color) stripes you can pick up some low grade vinyl and try it before you do the paint. Some of the cheap stuff is only $20 or so.
If you're thinking about a color blend or something more custom, we sometimes do this on clear vinyl so the customer can make sure they want to make it permanent with paint. It gives you a chance to check it out and/or make changes before dropping the smack to paint and clear it.

yeah I like blue too , but make em go all the way including over the bumper or roll pan!!! Looks awesome. Hell if I get blue then Flats Man and I would be twins in the same town, not cool. Dang!!
Signmaster- thanks for the advice...
to tell you the truth though, I've already been doing something very similar...on a much "smaller scale". About a week or so ago I was fortunate enough to find a silver Bburago L at a KBToys near me, and ever since then I've been slicing and dicing electrical and masking tape on my glass coffee table trying out my different ideas. To tell you guys the truth, it actually works pretty well to narrow out what you thought in your head would look cool on it, into what definitely doesn't...and what sort of does. I'm not saying go right from the model to the spray booth, but if you finally find something you really like on the Bburago, THEN go get some vinyl sticker stuff like Signmaster was talking about (since the sunlight, size, and slightly different body lines most likely will make a difference). Anyways, thanks again Signmaster, and hope this helps some of you, later...
