Getting custom chips burned.

Guys - what type of things can we have burned with custom chips.

Can we do things like have shift points raised but have the truck still shift like it does stock?
Could keep the 4cyl shutoff during shifts?

I guess I am looking for sort of a list of "variables" that we could choose or set.

You can get most anything you want. A soft shift with a moved shift piont in no problem. If you are not a drag racer and have a 2000L tell Jim at JDM you want a flip chip burned to cux2-val2-e2f. On on side will be wife/rain/towing and on the other side will be plenty of go when you want it.

Hope this helps

Andy

ahoy capt.

awhittle is correct.

one setting i prefer is to not allow the tranny to "fall" into OD until 50 mph. much of my around town driving is done under 50 and i can't stand the tranny shifting back and forth under subtle right-foot input.

not sure why you'd want the fart shift at a higher rpm but I'm sure it could be done.
more of an alto "toot" instead of the baritone "braaap"

I know this might sound stupid to some, But owners with kids driving will understand.

Can you program the chip like the Vettes so I can cut back on Horsepower? I have a daughter getting ready to start driving and she is not getting the 460 Torino or the Lighning the way it is, So that leaves the wifes Van. And that is not the best vechile for a new driver.

t-bone - I understand you point but you would rally let your kids drive your L? Even if you had a cutback on it?

Speedin Bob - if I get a chip I want it have as little to do with the transmission as possible. I don't mind if shift points are raised, but I don't want a chip controling line pressure for harder shifts, and I believe that if Ford cutoff 4cyl for shifts they did it for a reason and I don't want to mess with that either. So for increasing shift firmness I will go w/ Factory Tech accumulator.

Hi Captain Oblivious,

Yes, that can easily be done. If you'd like to go over the various options/details, etc. please feel free to give us a call.

Most of our many Lighting customers prefer max power (go figure!), but there are some who prefer to have a reduced power mode on one side, and some who prefer to have different things done with regards to shifting issues, such as your concerns, etc., all of that is "do-able".

Good luck, whatever you decide!
