Has anyone had coil problems?
I would like to know if any of you have had problems with the Coil packs. I took my 2000 in for the clunk fix and on my way home i stoped one block from my house. Then when I went to take off it was stumbling and really running ruff. so I put it in neutral and reved it up, but it reved real slow, so i proceeded home and parked it. i took it the next morning to the ford dealer and they said it was a burnt coil pack, they said they've never seen it on the lightnings but they've seen it on the cobra's. they say it gets too hot or something like that, has any of you had this? and another thing i was wondering, I went out this morning and the truck sat for about two days, and i go to start it but it cranked over real slow and sounded like the battery was dead but then it fired and all the gauges pegged themselves, so i shut it off and the same thing then the third time it started normal and the gauges worked normal. whats the deal with that? any info would be much appreciated. thanks,
Rob

I have never had a problem with my coil pack on my '00. I last time I seen all my gauges go to the right is when I put my chip in and had the computer out. The battery may have lost power for some mysterious reason. I wouldn't worry. Check the little green light on the battery...if you see just a dim green light, battery is going dead.
The #4 coil pack(passenger side rear) has a reputation for shorting out from antifreeze dripping on it from the heatercore connection right above it. Definitely check your battery connects also, the PCM is losing its memory. Does your radio also lose the time and preprogramed stations? If not then it may be a problem in your PCM.
