Had To Buy New Tire!!!!! $%&**#!

I had to buy a new F#*$IN' TIRE!!!!!! This really upset me.....when the tire tech removed the tire to patch it, CHUNKS of rubber Fell out! Showed me the inside of it and there were piles of ground up compound sitting inside. He said I drove it too far once it went flat.....I told him I didn't even go 50 yards once I heard the damn thing blow. He said it's common for low profile tires to do this. Oh well, 2000 miles on the odometer and I just spent $490 on a new tire and Road Hazard warranty for all 4. Sorry everyone for the bitchy post, but I had to vent!

$490 - Holy Jesus. That seems excessive.

If the tire leaks, and you drive it while it is low, the heat will build up and start to decompose the tire from inside out. I had the same problem with a tire on my 95 Cobra. It looked lice someone to a grinder to the inside of the tire.

$490 seems a little steep for tires. America's tire (Discount tire) will match any low price you can find, including tire rack.

That might not be too bad of a price. Goodyear wanted about $100 per tire for road hazard. For a tire and hazard coverage on 4 tires, that sounds about right.

Yep... $50/tire for the road hazard warrenty on high-perf tires is about right.

Ouch, that one kinda hurt.

Though I think we did one better than you. On the 3rd day of owning out 99L the right rear tire blew. The out side side wall blew out and the inside side wall was all ripped up. The tread face actually came off the rim. And back when the L just came out F1's were $475 a peice. Now they are $200.

Thumbs down Wheel & tire here!

I was on a 6 lane running through town about 40 mph & an old GM Pickup puked a piece of 4X4 angle iron off 50 feet in front of me. The angle was welded on to some sort of frame used as an electric motor hoist, or so it appeared. I was in the right-most lane, anticipating a turn in 2 blocks. There was a line of vehicles in the center lane preventing evasive action to the left, & an 18" guard rail on the right. The angle flipped on the pavement & went off the road, hit the rail & flew right back under me. The road was still a little damp from an earlier rain & there was no way to stop. I hit the angle with the sidewall splitting the tire & gouging a 2" wide chip out of the wheel. The driver of the other truck never slowed down, & may not have known what happened. I was not happy. I was however pleased to find the 01 L wheels & the tires available @ Tirerack for a reasonable price. It could have been much worse, the angle could have hit the front grille, bounced on the hood & into my lap through the windshield. I'm certainly pleased that wasn't the result. I am looking for the responsible truck now... I'm planning to return the angle iron to him.

And to think that I have 2 Brand new F-1's sitting in the living room. Bought them 5 months ago BEFORE I traded my 99 for the 01. O yeah, $424 delivered to my door by a brown truck, from www.TireRack.com

Thumbs up

I just had two tires installed at discount tire for 492.00,and they offered road hazard coverage for 20.00 per tire. The trick is to ask if they will match the web prices, and they will. These tire rack prices everyone likes to quote are not including shipping or obviously mounting and balancing.

I appreciate it fellas...I feel somewhat "justified".

Most Ford dealers are also tire dealers and they will match outside prices as well. My local Ford dealer has it all up in their service area posted. You may want to look around and tell them if you find something cheaper.
