What mods were done to the truck to cause 2 engines to pop? My 02L has 69k on it and is on it's 2nd (Replaced before I bought it). The guy had a "hot" air intake, b.s. exhaust and a 8# lower with the absolute worst tuning I've ever seen on it. That plus a led foot is a recipe for disaster with these trucks. IF you plan to beat on them, plan to work on them if you don't have supporting mods. Upgrade your fuel system and get a good tuner to set everything up first.

 

I have had 2 2001 l's. A balck one and a red one. The black one(bought new) never hauled anything but me softail in the bed and lost a trans at 37,000. Had extendedarranty so only cost me $100. ALSO NO adverse hot rodding it. I even did the turn off overdrive when not needed and it still lost the trans. I now have the red one (bought off a friend who bought it new)Had 4000 on it when I got it. It has hauled several full size cars and trucks, countless harleys in a 7x12 trailer, and I have run it pretty hard but not abused it. All the while NEVER turning off the od. The trans is just fine now with 45,000 on it. My point is it must be just the luck of the draw Take it for what its worth and drive it as you see fit.
