Long Time No Post___Update Time
Hi Guys and Girls:
I got a note from dzervit on Facebook today who mentioned our times here on this forum and it made me realize I had not posted for some years in the vehicle section of this forum.
Most will remember I turned Moby ('99 White Lightning) in on a Lincoln Blackwood and then gave up that truck for my inherited '92 Town Car.
Drove that one for 5 years and then absolutely fell in love with the new Taurus SHO and leased a Black one in November. Mine has the 401a Package and the Performance Package, no Interactive Cruise/Rear Camera etc.
After six months, I like it even more than the first day. Very competent car in all respects. Faster than a stock '99 Bolt and at the same time almost every luxury one could want.
As a point of interest, at least two other L owners and posters here are on the SHO Forum I now belong to, hdmlnium and Beefcake.
Best to everyone.
Bill

Hey Migo, good to hear from you again.
Interesting you ended up with a GT500. My local dealer had 3 on the lot maybe a year and a half or so ago and they were discounted like crazy and I almost took the plunge. With five Grandkids within 5 miles though, I faced the same problem as I did with the L, no seat room.
As stated earlier, I still thoroughly enjoy my SHO and with the weather we have had the last two days with temps around 0 degrees F, I love the heated seats.
Interesting to compare the SHO forum with this one, particularly when it comes to the Lightning part of it. We are going through a very, very mild version of the Tuner Wars that I remember so well in 1999/2000 on this forum. Brand new combination of motor and transmission, lots of worries about warranty problems, how much tune is enough, what are the weak points of the motor/power train etc. etc.
I would have to say they, the SHO owners, are a different breed of cat for the most part and many are or were owners of tuned versions of BMW, Mercedes etc. and a lot of Chrysler RT vehicles as well as Subarus and other such Turbo powered vehicles. And.....they are not ricers, these guys got some bucks.
To switch gears.........

hey bill,im the guy how sent you the lightning video a long time ago.i still have my lightning but bought a 06 gt mustang for my new play toy.saleen sc,about 490 hp rear wheels.good to hear from you again.
Hey GP:
Good to hear from you. I am really enjoying this sort of small reunion of some of the oldtimers from the Lightning thread.
Also kind of funny, I have not looked at Ford trucks for some time and as I mentioned earlier, I really like my Taurus SHO and I thought that was the car that I would get buried with.
However, since coming back to f150online, I started to look at what Ford was offering in the truck area and now I think I am going to get suckered back into an F150. Sometime in early 2011, they will offer the same motor I have in my SHO with 365 HP and 420 TQ bone stock.
That twin turbo motor has a lot, a really lot of potential via tuning that most likely won't hurt the motor but most everyone on the SHO Forum is worried about the capacity of the trannie which is very complicated and possibly fragile.
This should not be the case with the F150 trannie (I forget the designation just now) which I think is rated for over 500 TQ.
It seems you can get that motor in the crew cab and that would solve my grandkid carrying problem plus giving me back a cargo bed.
Ah well, still have a little less than two years on the Taurus lease so I will have to be a lookie lou for a while.
Again, good hearing from you.
