intercooler problems

does any one know where i could get an aftermarket kit for a 2000 lighting. he supercharger intercooler blew up and ford quoted me 1500+ for parts. it was orginally covered by warranty until 2002, but now its out of pocketcause the previous owner never checked his recall notice. The part number is XL3Z-9424-AB.

Thanks in advance.

anders, that wouldn't work for him since he's got a 9 row (and Amazon no longer carries the griffin core, after the issues with it)

MUSTANG99005 you have 3 options

#1 find someone willing to sell you a recalled mid plate and 10 row i/c core (I have a spare)

#2 switch over to a '01-'04 complete set up

#3 have trick performance build you a single pass core after you find a non leaky 9 row to use as a core

Well.... When looking at that unit, my concern is if one side gets cold air and the other side much warmer air. Atleast that what it looks like.
I dont trust that contraption !

i dont know what one you were lookin at if you were lookin at the chiller core thats how it works the lightning has a water to air intercooler so it cools the air goin into the engine with the coolant flowing through that and of course you have to have the heat exchanger to dissipate heat from the coolant

This is the one i comment on:

They even showing that the left side is cool and right side is warm.
When the air from the S/C comes down, it looks like the left side gets cooled and the right side not so much.
The air then splits to left and right side, going in to the chambers.

Anyone has a sectional of this engine ?

Some needs to prove me wrong !

ok i get what your sayin now but in all reality it dont matter if the coolant inlet and outlet are on opposite sides of each other the same thing is going to happen the coolant will be warmer at the exit side then it will at the enter side it dont just get hot as soon as it leaves the intercooler know what i mean

The LFP site says the intercooler is for 2001 - 2004 L's. If its possible, what will it take to adapt this to a 2000 L? Is the unit at least better the the stock intercooler?

did the '00 have the recall done??? if not then you'll need the program midplate to allow the 10 row to bolt up

thanks for taking a look around and clicking on this thread
