Lightning Cold Weather tire??

Ok, I have the original set of lightning rims that came on my truck, an 03'. I had to have one repaired because of a bend and bought a used set of 99-02 lightning rims to ride on while the other one was fixed. I have that set and I want to put a tire on it that will handle the cold better than my nittos. Basically what i want is a set of tires and rims for the winter. I searched and saw someone say that 285/60/18 would be fine and fit on a lightning with no scrubbing and tires are more availible in that size. Any lightning owners or knowledgable folks know what will work or am I wasting my time trying to find something that will end up doing the same as my nitto 555s and spin?

I used a set of 16" alum rims and then baught winter tires more available and a whole lot cheaper. I put them in th garage and bring them out when I drive my Lightning in th winter. Blems you can get at discount tire for about 1/2 price. Blems means the rim has a blemish in it.

God bless,

Suavy
