diesel swap?

there's a couple F-150's with diesel swaps and it's not to bad of a swap since the lightnings have the 4r100 from the factory anyway
o? the L engine has the same specs as the twin turbo 6.4? strange... and diesel isnt a better lubricant than gas?? ok, if your not a fan of diesel i dont think this applys to you..

no way a 6.4L diesel weighs the same as a 5.4L gas
and the suspension, rear axle and frame would all need to be beefed up seriously for the 6.4L
Only way this would even be remotely worth it would be a Cummins 3.9L twin turbo pushin 900 foot pounds of torque to the rear. now that would be SICK, and the motor would only weight in at around 800#. That V8 6.4L i know weighs more than that.

I wouldn't waste a Lightning for it, but I would love to see it in a regular flareside regular cab 2wd truck. TBH, the rear end may hold it, may not, I would upgrade to an older 9 inch or an 8 lug application to make sure it holds it.
I know the 6.4L weighs a lot more than an L motor, but I am sure it makes gobs more power, too. Would be interesting.
Whatever you do, do NOT put a POS Cummins in it and ruin a good truck. Don't even get me started on their spikey torque curves and their unreliability.

You would only get that power in a certain RPM range that spans about 500 RPMs, and you would fall off drastically under and over it, so you would have to have at least a 12 speed transmission to make the majority of that power actually useable.
yeah from what i read the 6.4 has about 15-20 less hp but has about 200 lbs of tourque more, i personally could not even come close to affording any of this since i got laid off from my job. (I own a 97 f150 4.6) just thinking in text. but anyone who knows a lightning, if they heard a diesel coming out of it i just wonder what thier faces would look like.def would be a one of a kind lightning.
you asked about swapping a lighting into a diesel engine...
'nuff said

4.2trimble mentioned the weight of the diesel over the supercharged 5.4, pickup man even said it wouldn't be worth wasting a real lighting over the swap but in a regular cab stepside F-150 yeah it would be different as there are only a couple out there
did you re-read it????
anyway when you first posted this I brought it up on the lightning forums and everyone had the same point as me, sure you will gain torque, but you lose your HIGH RPMS and you gain weight

if anything start with a short bed regular cab V-6 F-150 and use a lightning body kit
