Hp and Tq difference between 99-01 lightning?

I bought a 2000 lightning engine for a swap into my f150 and I was wondering what makes the 20hp and 10 tq difference from the 99-00 to the 01-04 lightnings?

Thanks Dave

There is a smaller maf in the older lightnings, and I also believe that the inter cooler is smaller.

It's the factory tune..they recalibrated it every year...with 04 being the best @385/450ft lb..and a 90 mm maf and larger itake tube.......

the '99-'00 made 360hp, they also had a different lower intake and mid plate hence the different bolt pattern on the eaton but they can be machined to interchange

make sure you get a 90mm MAF before you install the motor

I have a ba2400 90mm that I will be putting on. What kind of power should I get out of a stock 2000 L motor with that maf and a tune with decent exhaust? What can I do to upgrade to the 01 style intercooler and intake tube? I need to end up with 450-500 tq...

Thanks Dave

I'd run a 4# lower and see what happens, you should be real close

I hope you've helped your tranny out if not that'll probably be the first thing to go

*edit* the intercooler core in interchangable you need to count the rows it has, maybe you have the upgraded factory one now

Any idea where to buy a 4# lower pulley and a intercooler pump cheap and how much total boost will I get? Also how many rows does the standard intercooler have compared to the upgraded one? I need a way to tell what year this motor is because im not completely sure?

Thanks Dave...

lightning force performance, JLP, woodbine, avoid RPM outlet and remember you'll a pulley for the '99-'00 if indeed that's the year of motor you have 'cause they changed the factory crank balancer for the '01 models as well

Is there anyway to tell for sure what year the motor is? And if the factory upgrade has been done?

the '99-'00 trucks had a 9 row stock and I believe the factory upgrade had either 10 or 11 rows

take a picture of your intake runner (the part between the midplate and head) and we can tell you what year of motor you have

just kidding, it goes in the one from the passenger side cam/valve cover to the eaton, there are a few nice ones out there, the DMR looks the best but the L&S is maintainence free
