Torque Converter
Torque Converter
Well guys, since I have spent over a thousand dollars on the lightning over the past two weeks I have decided to continue the trend. I have been hearing noises from my Torque Converter for a while now but it has held up so I did not worry to change it yet.
Now that I am spending on the truck again, I guess why stop now. So I think it is time to change the converter. I called my dealer yesterday and they quoted me CI$451.00 for a stock converter, this would work out to US$563.75They said it would be CI$350 to change it, with the weight of the tranny I guess I will have them do this.
Now my question: Apart from an after market converter being made stronger, is there any other difference to move from stock? Would going to an aftermarket converter make a drastic improvement? If not I guess I should stick with a new stock one.
Let me know.

Since you're in the spending mood, and asking what a different convertor can do for you, consider the PI convertors sold by JDM and others. If you are interested in 2 tenths off your 1/4 mile, and higher trap speeds, along with an undisputed quality item, why not go with that. Think about what other mods could get you that for a few hundred dollars more than a stock convertor replacement.
