what other mods do you have? What/who is doing your tuning? Where do you live?

if you are stock block, in an area that gets cold(lower than 40's) on a budget, I'd say 4#, because most would say you don't need a MAF/MAFia, you are more likely to peg your MAF in cold weather.

if you have a little extra $$ laying around get the 6# and upgrade you MAF to a SCT BA 2400/2600,

search the classifieds on nloc .net there are always good deals over there.

either way I suggest a good dyno tune to get everything tuned properly.

another great mod is an aftermarket valve body, i suggest a DMPVB 619-474-8675 ask for Dante. A VB will speed up and firm your shifts. I have had more than just 1 vb, and I'd stick with the DMPVB, great product!!!

6 with a MAF extender, MAFIA or SCT Big Air meter along with a good tune you will be upwards of 420hp and tons of torque.

We can set you up with just about anything you need, just give us a call.

a 6# and a full throttle run in the cold weather would net you a vented block. Go with a 4# and be safe unless you plan on replacing your engine in the near future..

I have several customers running 460-480RWHP on the stock block with supporting mods and they dont have a problem no matter what the temp or weather is. Its all in the tune.

Define cold weather? Below 50*?

edit: I see you mentioned 40 as a cut off.

ok so since i have the 6#, then i should get it tuned somewhere? i dont think the truck has ever been tuned or has had anything done to it at all in that case other than the pulley. with the 6# pulley, on average, what r the hp/tr #s? just curious

Guys, let's stop it with the bickering. It's useless and contributes nothing to this site. This goes for BOTH sides of the table...

Let me tell you this, with whatever pulley you go with, it is better to have it tuned. Not only to be safe but to net the best power from your truck.

different trucks, different dyno's, different temps, different tuners etc will all yield slightly different numbers

have it tuned asap like drive it to the shop back it onto the dyno, install pulley and new belt then tune then drive

OR

get an email tune from a GOOD TUNER WITH EXPERIENCE there are several and I'm sure JJ will give you a member discountf since he's a supporting vendor on this site... I have not had any experience with JJ or his tunes but I have not seen anything negative about him

watch this video, you'll see some of his latest handywork
