I have a 2001 Lightning with 170,000 plus miles and still running strong but there seems to be a gremlin in my dash lights! for the last 4 years it seems my dash lights has a mind of its own. They are off right now but I'll be driving and they will come on. They might stay on for a week or a month or a day. Its very agravating and the dealer can't figure itr out. There seems to be no recall on this problem but the dealer is telling me the whole cluster needs to sent to Atlanta and swapped out for another one at the cost of $400. Seems to me it's a connection problem. Can anyone help me out with a easy fix?

 

i dont know about our trucks, but i know with my crown vic there was a common problem with the Lighting Control Module. the LCM's would sometimes cause same symptoms your describing, and sometimes make the headlights come on while driving & not turn off. when they were really bad they would sometimes cut the lights off at night. but im not sure if our trucks even have them. but that could be something to check. sorry i dont have any concrete info for you.
