$2,000 to Spend on Mods....

Probably not the best place to ask since the consensuse seems to be this place isn't very....active but I have always trusted your guys' opinions. On Lightnings.

So I have decided to finally spend some money and do a few mods on my 2000L. The truck is only driven about once a week on city streets when it is sunny out. I have 2,000 to spend, including shipping. The only "mods" I have done are a FTVB and a JDM Silver Bullet Dual Muffler Cat-Back Exhaust.

So I was looking at:

Chip
#4 Pulley
90mm MAF
Forced Air Induction Kit

And then couldnt decide between:
Traction Bars or 4.10 gears

That would get me to about 1,300 before shipping on all brand new parts. I could probably get all that stuff plus both the Traction Bars and Gears for under 2,000 but I want to hear which one you guys think I should go with first.

Any thoughts for those who still hang around here would be nice. Remember 2,000 including shipping.

I personnally would go with the 4 lb pully, maf coldair/ induction as well as a preditor tuner and a dyno tune. The tune is very important..

then consider the gears or the traction bars.

just my 2 cents.

I'd get the 4#, CAI, Dyno-tune, T-bars. And a killer chiller

What part of Cali?

Im up in the LA area, although I visit SD about once a month, but I dont take the L down there, got a beater for that ride.

I obviously wanna get the tune done, just gotta find a place that is reputable and close.

For the sake of argument though lets consider the tune to be in different part of the budget...

Here's my advice for how to spend that $2,000. Its so easy to spend other peoples money.

JDM - SCT XCAL II - $395.00
*I would trust their tunes, the tune is the most critical part.*
http://www.teamjdm.com/shop/product_...roducts_id=179
Chickenears- Stage 3 Cool Aid w/ Air Force One Stainless Power Tube - $563.00
*Its a little pricey but its the best CAI on the market.*
http://www.chickenears.com/cool_aid.htm
LFP- 90mm MAF - $89.95
http://www.lightningforceperformance...maf-p-242.html
LFP- 4# lower - $209.95
http://www.lightningforceperformance...kit-p-225.html

Chickenears- Metco Traction bars - $399.00
or
LFP - 58" Traction Bars - $349.95

Chickenears- Metco Driveshaft Loop - $79.95
*So you can run at the track, and for saftey*
Chickenears- Clunk Washers - $39.00
*Not really a performance mod, but if you dont have them well worth the 40 bucks.*
http://www.chickenears.com/chassis.htm

That brings your total to $1775.85. The rest should cover shipping and a good set of spark plugs. Just gap them proper. I have a chart for them I'll see if I can find it. I would say you should have about 400/500ish to the wheels. You might also be able to get the gears if you want, but I wouldn't bother. Plus with install costs it would go over the budget. On the street I dont know how well you would be able to hook up.

I'm running TR6's with 16.4 lbs of boost on an eaton, and I have no issues. According to the chart I should have TR8's.

I see a lot of guys running TR6's from most anything from stock to fully built.

An SCT chip.
6lb pulley.
Maf.
Plugs.
Tune at RET http://www.racersedgetuning.com/ Greg is in your area and is an excellent tuner.
CAI.
Valve body.

Then you will want to drive that bad boy down here to S.D. Hell, you will want to drive it every waking moment.

full length headers, pulley, and programmer. should get a gain of close to 100hp depending on what pulley you buy.

Back in the day, all those mods would be the way to go. I started out doing little mods, for a little bit more power, and spent a ***** load of money. If I was starting my modding today, I'd save every penny I could and buy...

1) Whipple
2) sct 2400 MAF
3) 60# injectors
4) upgrade the fuel pumps
5) dyno tune

Later on, as I was able to save the money, I'd add a built tranny, headers, highflow cats, and a 6# lower. I have 4.10 gears, because I run 22's. With the stock wheels or 20's (Unless you do a lot of city driving.) I'd keep the 3.55's or 3.73's.

If that sounds like something you'd never be interested in, then I'd get...

6# pulley
160* thermostat
SCT 2400 MAF
NGK TR6 plugs
X-CAL II
CAI

That Killer Chiller sounds interesting. Don't know much about it.

Traction bars before gears... If you decide to get gears at all.
