Post mass air mods/

Sal or Spiro...can you help me please? The 2001 L I have is in need of some help! The mods are as follows; JBA headers, Borla cat back exhaust, Air raid filter, no chip as warranty precludes this modification. The problem is; under full throttle the engine seems to stumble around 3000 rpm! Is is a lean condition caused by my mods? Did I do too much to run the standard chip? Would a new mass air help?I would appreciate any input on the problem! Thank you!

I am not Sal or Spiro, but when I bought my 90mm MAF I was told by other people on here as well as other L tuners that you need a chip to compensate for the air/fuel mixture.
The mass air kit draws more air and the regular computer module doesn't automatically adjust the fuel for increased air to the engine. My opinion is that you need to get a chip to help the engine adjust the mixtures for you. If you have any more questions about chips or such just e-mail me at the address below.

I do not know what 2_FAST4U is talking about, but all of your mods should have netted you about 10 H.P. I do not think you did to much modding. Is the stumble only at W.O.T.? If so it is probably the torque converter locking up. You have a 90 mm mass air stock, so I would not change that. I.M.H.O.

I am not trying to be an a$$ here but Borla cat-back and JBA headers won't pick you up crap. Maybe two or three horses if your lucky. With any mass air kit you can run the risk of running LEAN. Performance chips of from tuner will comensate for that.

I did not imply that you were being an a$$, but Randy does not have a different mass air meter, he has his stock one. I also thought that the bulk of his H.P. gains would be with the airaid 6-8 H.P. ??

is the airaid a mass Filter? I have the JDM MAF kit and I know the air is rushed in and needs to be compensated for. That is why I got the flip chip.

Randy said, "I have a 2001 Lightning", the 2001 Lightning already comes with a 90MM MAF . Mid_12 figured it out.

His problem is something else.

Question

Airaid does not make a filter setup for the 2001 if you have one it is for the 80mm mass air . This what Airaid told me.

Is your 3,000 RPM stumble on a shift? If so then I would agree with mid_12 and I also am still very positive (100%) that a MAF kit causes lean conditions and a chip will help. I also pretty sure that the stock air box on a '01 is not a MAF and are a regular air box. I will update you on that. I am going to ask a friend who has a '01.

Thank every one for the replys! First the Jba headers and borla were good for 28 hp by my dyno runs before and after! Secondly, the mass air is stock! The air raid filter is from my 2001 lightning! I experience the stumble only on WOT! Im guessing that I will need a chip to correct a lean condition. Theres goes the warranty!Where are Sal and Spiro when you need them? ahahahahaha! Thanks to all who replyed!
