Talking TAPING WHITE WIRE W/ORANGE TRACER DOESN'T RUN INTERCOOLER PUMP

Well I'm bound and determined to get my intercooler pump to run in the pits so I copied Sals post about taping the white wire with the orange tracer that comes out of the firewall at the pcm. Removed battery and taped into wire. Grounded wire...nothing. Turned key to on and grounded wire..pump would run. Well I'm not going to sit with the key in the on position and not have the engine run so back to the pump.
Cut positive wire and run both ends to a single pole double throw switch. Connect pump lead to center of switch, connect other end coming from relay to one end of switch and connect other end of switch to positive power source. With the spdt switch there can be no back feed to relay. Even if you leave switch in power mode everything will work fine but if you leave it there and go to bed you're gonna wake up with a dead battery. Ran all the wire in plastic wire loom. Used a 35 amp heavy duty switch as I have no idea what the amp rating is of the pump. Will hook up tomorrow and see how it works.

No what you should do. Hook it up so when the key is in the back position, the one that only lets the radio work and windows. And then once you turn the key all the way to start it will run?

New switch works great. In top position its normal and in bottom, it sends 12Vt to the pump and does not back feed to the relay. Works great. Now to find some 7" CHEAP fans.
At least tomorrow at the track I will be able to circulate the fluid in the pits which should keep it from heating up with the engine turned off.

Noelvm, which color wire is positive that comes from the IC pump? You use a 3 terminal switch and cut that positive pump wire? One end of one terminal...the other end of the wire to the second terminal and hook a positive lead to the third switch terminal. Does this sound right? What did you tap into for the positive lead? Thanks for any info on this much needed mod. Jeff

I guess I'll just have too do my best. I'm not really sure what kind of switch to get...on/off or on/off/on and how many terminals does the switch have 3 or 4? Also on the terminals do I hook the ic pump to one, the pcm to the other and the battery to the third? Jeff

I don't remember whether the wire I jumped was positive or negative. Take a vom and figure out which one is open with the key off. With the three position switch the center terminal goes to the pump. One of the outside terminals goes to the wire end you cut from the power soure. The ohter outside terminal goes to a power source that matches what the other end is either negative or positve, but on all the time.

Noelvm, the small fans are available at electronics stores. I've used them on various projects. They are available in 110 AC, 24 VDC, 12 VDC. They are used as cooling fans for computers, amps, etc. They will probably work as long as you don't get them too wet.

I used a standard on/off switch and wired it to to 12v and then ran it to the wire on the intercooler pump. Works great, you just gotta remember to turn the switch off when you're done racing.

Just a note. I'm deaf in one ear and can't hear out of the other and after several late nite racing events I have been awakened the next morning by my wife telling me, "Your truck is making a funny noise." Pump ran all nite. Truck started right up. No problemo.

I've got 2 120mm Mechtronic 12v .95a Industrial fans 1.5" thick.

I use them(total of 4) on my radiator for my watercooling on my computer. I am willing to sell 2 of them for $30. I paid $25ea.

Well, being a real American, I got no idea what 120 centa meters is but if its 7 inches in diameter with L brackets, I'm interested.
