G-Tech Fact or Fiction
Hey any of you guys that have G-techs meter, how close did they come to any runs you made at the track? Since I am 300 miles away from the nearest strip, I was thinking of getting one to see how I'am running. Any input?

I am in the same boat as you and have been considering one also. I have heard that they can be close to accurate if you follow the direction closely and do what they tell you to.
I would not use them as a solid measuring device, but I think they would be kind of cool for testing out mods and seeing improvements.

Quite a few of the guys on this forum have taken them to the track to compare results. The unit is surprisingly accurate in quarter mile ET readings - within .1 (1/10th)second, but tended to be a few miles high on speed reading in comparison to the time slip.

I went 5.26 stock 0-60 in VERY good weather many, many times. The road surface does make a BIG difference. On new pavement you can launch much harder and pull times like I listed. On older pavement I ran consistent 5.6's.

Im waiting to go to the track after I finish my mods. Bone stock my G-tech had my L at 13.7 1/4 and 5.4 0-60mph. After a chip and filter on the same road, similar conditions. It had me at 13.3 1/4 and 4.9 0-60. After I install the ram air, tranny module, and lower pulley, with street slicks, I,ll make another G-tech run, then I compare that time with a track time.
We finally have some cool air now around 60 degrees so i went out tonight and ran my L with my g-tech where i usually do my testing at and ran a 0-60 in 4.12 and the 1/4 in 12.47!!

I have a brand new one that I've never even put anywhere near my L.
There are alot of mixed feelings here about their accuracy/inaccuracy, that I figured I didn't care what the meter says, I know the truck goes fast enough.
I'll wait till it starts getting real cool down at Carlsbad and go get me some timeslips.
Living at 6000' the numbers on the G-tech would not look real promising. I got a chance to drive at 2000' the other day and almost lost control.
LOL
