These are the 22" wheels that I am going with
HD,
You could go with the 305/45/22 but if you do so, and it fit, I recommend you have a chip dealer customize your electronic ratio for your speedometer to correct the difference

I do want to go with a higher profile but I haven't been able to find one that isn't to tall. They are either low,low profile or they have to much side wall. I guess you just can't win, I do have a buyer for the twenties and he is sending me out a check. I have my 18's back on now, I only put about 150 miles or so on the twenties so he will still be getting nice new twenties
With any of your connections what would you think would work best on my truck for a tire?
Thanks, Bill

I think that the 305/45/22 would be to tall if they wouldn't hit anywhere I would go with them. I just want to be sure that what I get doesn't hit, because once I buy them and get them shipped to me if they are too tall it will be to late. I think the 30 series profile will be too short but I know that they will fit. I just wish I knew if some taller profiles would work for sure. I know the ride quality would be much better.

Hey HD, You are kind of in a rough spot with that wheel size. Like Twiztid said you cannot go too narrow on the width because of the 10" wide rim but the only tires to go on that wheel with higher profile are too tall and remain close to the stock height.
I would say that the 305/30/22 or 305/35/22 if someone makes them will be the only way you can go. any higher profile will be too tall unless it was like a 275 and that would be too narrow for the 10" rim. remember the 20" goodyear 295-40-20 were less than an inch taller than the stock 18's. that would be the same as using the 305-30-22. you could try the 285 dunlops but they might be too narrow for the wheel. while you are looking at new wheels check out the new rims at Enkei on their website. my friend almost bought a rim for his expedition that was about 750 each and they were beautiful. I saw them in truckin magazine in a full page ad but cannot remember the name of the rim. I think the site is www.enkei.com but not sure. later 95rcobra.

HD, take into account that with a 305/35 etc they are just slightly lower than your standard 295/45 because the higher first number determins a higher sidewall. I don't think the ride would be that bad on them.
hdmlnium:
About tire widths- The manufacturer's spec for "approved rim size" for some tire sizes:
275/35/20: 9-11"
285/30/20: 10-11"
295/40/20: 10-11.5"
Point being: 275 or 285 are plenty wide for 10" wheels... at least according to the guys who made the tires.
Tire spec info
And about ride harshness- You wanna judge this by the sidewall height, not just aspect ratios (45 vs. 35), Meaning look at how much rubber you have between you and the road.
295/45/18: 5.2" of sidewall
295/40/20: 4.6" ... about 10% rubber lost.
285/30/22: 3.4" ... about 35% of the rubber is now metal!
(this is not exact, as the sidewall compresses with the weight of the truck, but it gives you an idea).
So with the above, the ride will be harsher, but I dont think it'll be too bad. Springs, shocks, even tire material have far more impact on ride harshness then changing to lower-profile tires.
Just my $0.02 worth...

Take into consideration.. not all tires are created equally. Second, it would fit the rim but it would also curve inside and the lip of the rim would be poking out... thats a no-no for handling chars. I wouldn't put anything less than a 295 on a 10" wide rim.

Ummmmmmm, that's only a no-no if you dont know how to parallel park
Most autocrossers/road racers would disagree with "put the widest tire you can on a rim." Using tires in the middle of the "approved rim spec" works much better for handling. Just one of those cases when the common sense idea "wider is better" does not work.
And you cant get any more handling oriented than Hoosier road-race tire's. Look at their rim spec's:
245/40/18: 8.5-9.5"
275/35/18: 10-11"
285/30/18: 10.5-11.5" -- 285 is too wide (not too narrow) for a 10" !!
That's why the:
New 911 turbo only runs 295's on 11" rims (when they could run 315's or maybe 335's)
Z06 only runs 295's on 10.5" rims
New M3 only runs 255's on 9" rims
