Here is a link to MustangWorld where someone has taken an '01 Lightning crate motor and put it in a Mustang.

Ford has one of these around somewhere...wasn't it like the JET or something? I have the magazine with it and the superstallion or whatever.

It was blue.

Motor Trend did a test on the Mustang "Cobra Jet" with the L engine and a T56 trans in it. They had it geared to low and I believe it just smoked the tires deep into 3rd gear. Also, it handled pretty badly. I have the issue somewhere, but off the top of my head I believe it ran 13.0 @ 110mph (obviously boiling the tires big time).

It was a Ford prototype and an SN95 bodystyle...the cowl hood was literally 7" tall.

Thumbs up

I got a ride in that Mustang at Ford in Florida. We got it up to 130 mph (4th gear 4200 rpm) before we shut it down because we ran out of track. Too bad I did not have track clearance to drive it
