Anyone with pictures of the sender for water temp gauge?
I didn't realize that I would have to tap the intake manifold to attach the temp sensor for an aftermarket gauge. Does anyone have pictures of this?
Do a search. There are some pics of the sending unit tapped into the thermostat housing. The only problem with this is it doesn't read engine tempurature until the thermostat opens. Since my primary use of the temp guage will be for the track, I have been looking for some other place to put the sending unit. Anybody have any suggestions?

here you go temp sensor tapped into the intake manifold. There is a coolant passage under there

Don not to sound like a moron, but is it the one in the clearing, near the middle of the picture? with the brass nut and the red tape around it?

Hey guys I found a great spot for the sending unit for the water temp guage its the drain plug for the block its right behind the oil filter and all you need are some brass fittings and the sending unit will screw right in there no drilling and you get an accurate reading just replace any antifreeze you lose and you are set

Like the idea of putting behind filter. I drilled my intake and was able to cut threads, but it was a very nervous few minutes. The intake casting was extremely thin, had to be extremely careful not to pull threads when tapping and again when tightening sensor. Thought I might have to have a bung heli arc'd onto intake. Manifold can not be more than about an 1/8 th inch thick. - Big Bob

Great info BadAzz. I didn't really want to drill, tap, etc. and risk messing up my intake. What is the best place to run the wire into the engine compartment from the guage?

Badazz found the correct place. This is the one my mech found when he was putting mechanical gauges in a Cobra R. It's deffinately the right spot.

Evil,
I tapped mine into the thermostat housing like so.
The sending unit doesn't touch the thermostat however there is a drawback. The gauge only works when the thermostat is open. Personally, I'm not real concerned when it is closed anyway.

Cobra,
it works great (tells me when the stat opens too)
without looking, I'm not sure how much room there is to drill but the tap should fit.

Do you have an 01? The picture posted above is from my 01 which has a different intake than the 99 and 00's.
