There was a Lightning storm in Anchorage last night...
In more than one way. I'd like to say I egged on mother nature when I came across this slick new 2001 WS6, M6.
In this day and age, where one can find out the day's news in an instant, have coffee in a jiffy, rice in a minute, I now introduce "INSTA-CARLENGTHS."
Thats how it went. I saw the rear body, caught up, and caught the light with the fellow. I've lined up with him before, when I had a flat tire (opposite side from him, he had no idea) and it was he who was making the excuses, you know the new car, manual trans (too much hp) routine. Today must have been different, he was with a lady, and he see's me pulled up. I knew it was on. The ladies to their left had something to say to them, something like "You are gonna race that truck?" Then the light went green and I pulled him to my rear bumper by 30, then atleast another by 50.
It was such a roasting that I shut down, turned on my hazards, and gave my cousin a big old high five right in front of my rear glass. I learned that hazard light trick from some pretty cool import drivers. You know how I just wanna be like them[/sarcasm].
We get down a ways, and its all clear. It finally catches up, and wants to go from a 55. Sure why not, gotta see how these new parts add up.
We both punched it at the same time. I pulled a little bit to 65, then it was dead even. He slowly made up the 2 feet he lost and it was neck and neck to about 85. It was during this time when I heard something wrong, and something beautiful. My windows were down, so were his, on this hot 77* late afternoon.
"DAMN!" (The word did not eminate from the black truck.)
Then the truck shifted to third, and the had another foot or two to make, but thats when I called it quits. He didnt want to play anymore after that.
I sure wish my camera was operable, you guys would have loved that one. Gonna try to fix it tonight.
It sure did rain good last night, and yes, we saw a little Lightning action.

Tundra,
I ran a 2000 WS6 last Friday night at Famosa Raceway. I oupulled him whan the light went green, and continued almost the entire track.
I guess those 6-speed cars are hard to launch without a lot of wheelspin.
The track had been baked in 106 degree sunlight all day, and was really slippery. My 60' times were off about a tenth.
I ran a 13.83 to beat his 14.53! The air temp at the time was 94 degrees and it was about 8:45 at night.
I wish I could tun the truck in good air at a good track.
