Post Oil Change

I know this has been asked before but I have a twist to the first oil change. I was going to wait until 1K Miles before my first change but I am going on a trip this weekend that will put an additionl 600 miles on the L. I currently have around 700 miles on the L and was wondering if I should keep the origial oil in or change it out for some cleen oil before the trip or wait until I return. I am going to use regular petro. oil until around 3000 miles then switch to Moble 1.

Thanks!

I'd keep the original oil in till about 1.5k then change it. I like to baby my 01L, but I think it can hang for another 700 or 800 miles.

i would wait--when you get back, those highway speeds will be good for the eng. and the oil will be fine. i changed mine at 998 miles and put motorcraft oil in. i upgraded to royal purple synthhetic at 3998 miles.
