I've read many magazine articles and threads on this topic, plus experienced it.

Yes and No - the e. fan will not create horsepower, but it will free up some horsepower. Not having to turn that big heavy metal thing they call a fan there can really help the engine.

My last truck I installed a Black Magic fan, noticed a little better power and also noticed that engine revved a little quicker. Neither of these increases where great, but slightly noticable.

Jerry,

Not sure of there is any overall gain per se but I'm sure there are a few ponies let loose from not having to spin the nasty OEM garbage.

tempting isn't it....

Hey Captain - Was the stock fan metal in your L? I've still got the stock fan in my '00 and it's not metal.

Going from a mechanical fan to an electric one usually picks up about 5-10 HP. The throttle response alone is much better with the electric version.

****** - Know mine is not metal either. My 97' 4.6L was all metal, peice of heavy junk. The one in the L seems the same, though not as heavy.

Question

I was thinking about getting complete electric fan set up (JDM or PSP), but didn't know if it would be worth the money. Does anybody have any before and after times?
