Post Insurance question

Is the L considered a F150 when you go to insure it or is it considered a HiPoFo?
Does the VIN indicate its L condition?

I agree with Undy. State Farm knew what mine was and the rates are higher then a standard F150. Other companies may vary though.

I concur with BaddKharma. I pay less for the L than my wifes Maxima.

When I traded my 1999 F-150 XLT 4.6 for my 2000 L my insurance went down $1 for a 6-month policy. It says 2000 Ford SVT F-150 on the insurance card, and all I told them was the VIN, so they must know what it is.

My insurance company knows that it's an SVT. The agent said it was considered "just a truck" but when the policy came it clearly stated F150 SVT Lightning. My insurance costs slightly more than my 97 F150 and but less than the wifes Explorer. Go figure.

Insurance is higher on both my 96 Civic EX daily driver and wifes 2001 Jeep Cherokee than the Lightning. My Insurance Card states F150 Lightning.

My insurance carrier listed the vehicle as an F-150. They were aware of the L status but it didn't change my rate. I traded in a Durango for the L and my rates actually dropped. Insurance rates are based on repair costs, liability and driver rating. Since the L is listed as a 3 passenger vehicle, it is classified as less of a liability than a 4 + passenger vehicle. But insurance calculations are different in every state, so shop around.
