Talking PSP pully installed

Installed my pully yesterday. Took a little longer then i thought but i did it myself and Im very happy with it. I tried using the stock belt but I felt I wanted to be able to put it on myself and i couldnt so i opted for the longer belt, and it slipped right on. Took it out last night around 65 degrees and the truck ran great. I plan on going to the track this week if the weather permits. With the pully and my new JDM race program I see no reason why i shouldnt run in the 12s.

If you start to hear a rubbing noise or any type of noise coming from the front end then you'll want to go back to the shorter belt. Just knock your "nub" off.

Question

what would you say is the single most effective engine perf mod? if it was a combo mod (ie, catback + intake) that's ok.

The now famous chipenfilter mod. Will knock .5 second off your E.T.'s at least.

I personally like the psp guys and have ordered their pulley and filter kit.

I plan on ordering a 4 way chip. I like the idea of having a valet mode and maybe even a wife mode.

I do think if you stick with the big 3 (JL, PSP, JDM) you will be happy.

All I can say is hold on if you get PSP's chip / intake mod. I had PSP's chip / intake mod on my 2000, and I was amazed by the performance improvement. My 2000 dyno'd at 376 rwhp with the chip/intake mod & full bassani exhaust. Unfortunately, I didn't get a baseline, however, other stock L's at the same shop baselined at about 320 rwhp. I recently ordered the PSP 4-way chip/filter for my 2001, and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I would recommend talking to Spiro at PSP - you would be hard pressed to find a more helpful person!!

Thumbs up

D_Coburn -

Thanks for the good info. How do you feel about that nice exhaust system? Get extra power from it? How did it sound? Do you think leaving the factory headers and replacing the muffler end of it would have yielded similar sound and gains?

Cool

I've had great success with Superchips and the JDM filter kit. I dynoed 368 RWHP and 431 RWTQ w/ ~1,500 miles on the clock. The truck has definitely picked up some more power w/ added miles, so I'd be curious to see some new dyno #'s.

Lightningbolt-

I think that the full Bassani setup yielded minimal, if any, power gains - but it sounds awesome. Unfortunately, I did not do a baseline dyno for my truck prior to the upgrades. From what I have read on this board, leaving the OEM headers would result in a similar sound. Spiro at PSP would have much more knowledge on this subject since he is the expert. By the way, someone on this board actually recorded and posted the sound of the Bassani setup - I am sure that you can find it if you do a search.

I like the idea of the `wife-mode'. Tell me more of a 4-way chip.

Still driving the stone-stock 2001.
