Peter B, Some pictures of some fish
Pete,
I have been out a few times in the last month or so. Thuresday we went about 75 - 80 miles offshore for tuna. We wound up with 6 yellowfin. I giot the big one of the day @ 43 lb. The pace is picking up here in FL now. If you get out this way you might see some action like this.

I like the pictures..don't get me wrong. I just think it's funny how almost every post gets locked now because their not up to our fine moderators standards. Than pictures of fish come across and nothings said.
Not flaming....I just get a kick out of how this post is seemingly non-L related. Maybe he didn't say anything because there is no "Tuna" forum on F150 online.

Redneck,
The yellowfin is a very good fight. We caught them on a fast troll (~12knots) where birds were working. We use fairly heavy tackle for that. Even after the boat slows down they can scream a lot of 50lb test line out! The largest I have caught was 68 lb, that was a bit more challenging!
ILL,
It's a friends boat that he does charter. Its a 37' customized Topaz whith brand new 3126 Cat turbo diesels.
Nix,
I looked, I saw no tuna forum
The funny thing is , I was in San Diego last October and got on an overnight tuna trip. I was alone, and just standing on the deck before we took off. Some guy starts talking to me. He is with some friends, they are from AZ. I meet and talk to all the guys for a while. Some of them go to sleep and some of us stay up drinking beer and BSing. Talk turns to cars and I say I have a Lightning. One of the guys says that their friend Pete (that is sleeping down below) has one. He askes if I have a chipnfilter, I say yes. I ask if Pete has heard of f150online and he says yes. I asked if he uses Peter B he said yes and we had a great unplaned day!
So it is Lightning related after all!

Tom,
Awesome pics!! Very, very nice tuna! I'm so jealous! 43 lbs, that must have been a nice fight. How long did it take you to bring him in the boat? What rod/reel combo were you using on that trip. One of these days, I need to plan a trip with you and fly out to Florida and have some fun. I'm gonna have to twist Dave's arm and ask him to join us. He loves Florida. We are still talking a Cabo trip, but not put anything together. I'll definitely keep you posted if we do.
Haven't been out to San Diego yet this summer, I still think it might be a bit early in the season. Hoping to get out there 2 or 3 times. Been out on 4 fishing tournaments recently on local lakes. My neighbor Matt has a fishing partner and Matt is out of town on business alot. Well, since I'm not working, his buddy now asks me to fish when Matt can't make it. So, he didn't have to twist my arm on that one. He's got a late model Triton TR21 w/Merc 225 EFI. What a boat that is! That was a stupid mistake to go one that being my first bass boat to be on. So, after the first tournament, I'm down at the local Triton dealer checking out boats. I'm thinking about a TR19 w/Merc 200 XR6. Our local lakes are not that big, so I can't see spending an extra $2500 for EFI, or $5000 for the Optimax. I've been cruising the traderonline doing a nationwide search and I notice there is a dealer in Florida that discounts the Tritons alot: The Boat Connection in West Palm Beach. Maybe I could make a deal, we could break it in down there and bring the thing back to AZ. Thinking of getting into something in about December.

Pete,
Glad to hear from you! To answer some questions: I took about 10 minutes or so to get it in. I believe that one was on a Shimano TLD 50 2 speed and I think a Starr rod. I'm not sure because it was not mine and there was a lot of stuff out. We also had some Penn International 50s and some Shimano Tiagra(?) 50s and an International 80 for the shotgun line. It was a good day!
If you get out this way I could see if we could get hooked up on my friends boat. They left yesterday for the Bahamas for a week. They said they want to go for tuna every week while in season on a fun (non charter) trip. I'm greatful to have friends like that!
Those bass boats are rockets! If you need me to check something out let me know. I live across from a pretty good bass lake, but I never go fresh water fishing! They have several tourneys a year on it. If you buy the boat here can you imagine the lakes you can hit on the way back!

Tom,
Sounds like you are having a blast out there! That is truly way cool to have friends like that. Wow, sounds like you were using some pretty heavy gear for those fish. I'm real tight money wise at the moment as I just purchased another home (for a rental property) and put a healthy down payment which depleted both my personal and business accounts. As soon as I get some funds built back up, I need to be planning some trips to the ocean. I'll keep you posted, but would love to come down there and hit some tuna action with you. I'm gonna keep looking for a boat and I'll let you know if I need any assistance--thanks!
