The Fast and The Furious
Well today is my anniversary and the wife said dinner and a movie, so I said you pick the food and I will pick the show.
So, of course the fast and the furious just started tonight and I thought just by the title alone it sounds like a film for me.
It was a good movie, there is an L in it, but they do not showcase it. Too bad!!
It could of burnt up some of the ricers. The movie was mostly ricers but a lot of good street racing scenes and not too bad of a story.
I was disappointed that they did not mod out the L and burn up some ricers, but overall a good flick and good racing.
I give it too thumbs up....

Haha Hank, agreed! When I saw that scene with the L loaded up like the Beverly Hillbillies, boxes nearly falling off and all the ricers escorting, I was hacked! I was like "Bah, why you sacks of sh*t!! Make you think use the L as a delivery truck!!"

Fast and the Furious Tops Box Office
By DAVID GERMAIN
.c The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Race cars made road kill out of talking animals at the box office.
``The Fast and the Furious,'' a thriller about Los Angeles street racers, debuted as the weekend's No. 1 film, grossing $41.6 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.
Eddie Murphy's ``Dr. Dolittle 2'' opened in second place. The sequel about the veterinarian who speaks with furry creatures took in $26.7 million.
Last weekend's top film, ``Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,'' finished third with $20.2 million, a steep 58 percent drop from its debut. ``Tomb Raider,'' starring Angelina Jolie, has grossed $84.2 million in 10 days.
The overall box office soared, with the top 12 movies taking in $140.6 million, up 44 percent from the same weekend last year.
``The Fast and the Furious'' benefitted from an up-and-coming cast that includes Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez. Diesel plays the leader of a street-racing outfit whose gang is infiltrated by an undercover detective (Walker).
With a cast of white, Hispanic, black and Asian actors, the movie drew wide-ranging crowds. Half the audience was white, 24 percent was Hispanic, 11 percent was Asian-American and 10 percent was black, according to distributor Universal.
Movie-goers younger than 25 made up three-fourths of the audience.
Rob Cohen, who directed the film, spent the weekend visiting theaters and found the movie played well across-the-board.
``It was great to see this common turf that brings these ethnicities together peacefully under one roof, all enjoying the film in the same way.''
Fast cars, a hip soundtrack, a PG-13 rating and a trailer than ran before Universal's ``The Mummy Returns,'' one of the year's biggest hits, also helped ``The Fast and the Furious.''
``It had everything teen-agers are looking for in summer, both in real life and movies. Cool cars, beautiful people, great music,'' said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Exhibitor Relations, which tracks the box office.
Universal originally scheduled ``The Fast and the Furious'' for release in March. But studio Vice Chairman Marc Shmuger bumped it to June, figuring the movie could hold its own against big summer flicks.
``We were sensing greater opportunity by moving to summer, but also greater risk, because now we were having to compete against franchises and blockbuster movies,'' Shmuger said. ``But if you can compete against them, the results are unbeatable.''
The opening-weekend haul for ``The Fast and the Furious'' wound up exceeding its production budget of $38 million.
The sequel to ``Dr. Dolittle,'' a $140 million hit, had a higher profile early on. The first film opened at No. 1 with $29 million in June 1998.
In limited release, the German film ``The Princess and the Warrior'' opened strongly, taking in $54,000 in three theaters. The movie reteams director Tom Tykwer and actress Franka Potente, who collaborated on ``Run Lola Run.''
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at North American theaters, according to Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. Final figures are to be released Monday.
1. ``The Fast and the Furious,'' $41.6 million.
2. ``Dr. Dolittle 2,'' $26.7 million.
3. ``Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,'' $20.2 million.
4. ``Atlantis: The Lost Empire,'' $13.2 million.
5. ``Shrek,'' $11 million.
6. ``Swordfish,'' $7.7 million.
7. ``Pearl Harbor,'' $7 million.
8. ``Moulin Rouge,'' $3.8 million.
9. ``Evolution,'' $3.6 million.
10. ``The Animal,'' $3 million.

I saw the F&F last night with my GF. We both liked it and we went to the 12am (last for the night) showing. Man you should have heard the parking lot after the movie was over!!! All of the squealing tires was hilarious! I guess it made everyone a race car driver just by watching it. I only spun the tires on the L a little though...

I bet a lot of kids learned a lot from the movie. ;-) I thought it was entertaining and will give a boost to the car scene.
1. One bottle of NOS is ok, two bottles and you will blow your engine. However, your car will still run after that.
2. No domestic car can touch an import.
a. Lightning is a delivery truck.
b. A blown big block that will pull a wheelie cannot beat a Supra with NOS.
3. I thought of more lastnight, but I forget them now.
