Post Lightning kills vette every time!!!!

I ran acouple of vettes last night.
A stock 2001 with decent launches ran 13.3-6s all night. The weather wasnt desirable buty i managed to stay in the high 12s all night.Good natured vette owners,Nice people but with a couple of excuses After mopping them up all night, one was complaining about him on street tires and me on slicks. When i was leaving,I swapped over to street tires and got NO NO NO traction.burned the first 40 ft and then slipping and chirping the whole 300 ft.I still ran 1 tenth faster and beat him by 1.5 cars meaning he was a good 20 ft behing my bumper It si such a good feeling when you take a truck and beat vettes all night.I have to admit, although they are not super close races,They are my only real competition at the track.

Another good feeling is when the manager of the track pulls me over before the ticket booth and says "There is nothing better than watching you beat vettes all night in a pickup truck!!" that made my night.

"They are my only real competition at the track"...

A 12-sec truck is very cool. No one here would disagree with that. I also think its great that you raced them on street tires. Everyone has excuses, and traction is one of them (and a legitimate one at times). May I ask what you ran on stock radials?

I don't know where you race, but if you're the fastest at the track and running 12s, then things must be pretty slow in your neck of the woods. This is not a slam...just putting things in perspective.

Im in no way the fastest at the track. But, There are not an abundance of new vehicles with major mods at my track. And what i mean by only competition is in new vehicles.I dont race old cars that run 10s and 11s.Im talking about TRUE street cars with license plates that just drove 1 hour or 2 to get there its getting so its a 50/50 split of all the ricers to the american sport cars.Makes me sick. But what is funny is that it used to be mustang allie all arcross america at the track. Now its Lightning grand central

Thumbs up

Hey Ray

Sounds like you are running good again I am very happy for you. I hope to be at the track this wednesday or at least the next. I have the new fan ready to go in, maybee tomorow or tuesday. Also I have a new little traction improver on its way , now all I need is a set of slicks and I will be in the 12's easy.

Hope to see you at the track soon

Cool

I don't race trailer queens, either.

"old cars that run 10s or 11s". It's funny...I never consider my LX "old" (maybe b/c I've owned it since new), but it is 11 years old...although the appraiser recently noted "restored to as-new condition". Not sure if you were even referring to my 5.0 Mustang...but if you were there's some truth to the "old" statement.

Also, for the record, there are plenty of TRUE STREET cars that run these types of times...unless you don't consider driving 80 miles one-way to the track, knocking down 22mpg on the highway (try that in my L!), racing and driving home to be TRUE STREET.
And yes this car is completely street legal down to the cats, and of course has legal plates and inspection sticker. If you don't believe me, then have a look...and my car is just one example of many, many street-legal, bona-fide 9-10-sec _drivers_.

Funny, I have raced many times in the FFW class called TRUE STREET. They stretch the rules a bit, though.

But, yes...clapped out "race cars" are a different story. Gut the interior, open headers, etc. Those are not in the same class as a street vehicle.

Keep up the good work.
