Question Flaking Supercharger Impeller Blades?

http://www.digitalinsignia.com/mytruck.html

WTF?

Rich is now checking the SC for flaking on the impelers.
He was told by Dearborn to do so.

Sure enough...flaking. I only wish I had more mile on the truck before I got a new SC.

Is this bad? I wonder how many are doing it.

Also, what did he mean by that quote about one more mile on the truck? He has 12000 miles from what the website states. Is that something to do w/ the warranty?

Yes, the coating does come off over time. It is considered normal. That picture is actually pretty good compared to some I've seen. The only thing that sucks is the pieces that come off, clog up the intercooler fins.

His statement about the 1 more mile. Was that because he's now getting a used s/c vs. new because he's over 12k? I didn't understand.

His statement was that he wishes he had more miles on the truck before they replaced the blower. In other words, he would have gotten more use out of the original blower before getting a new one. Or at least that's how I see it .

Ahhh, duh, I was thinking "one more"...instead of "miles"!

Thanks

When I had my intercooler replaced my tech showed me all the silicon clogging the IC. I got a new blower shortly thereafter. warrantied of course..
