Thumbs up

Finally. That's the best news I've heard in a long time. Maybe it will help reduce the amount of organized street racing in this town. It's getting really dangerous with all the CRAZY import guys.

You can go to the street races on Sunday aternoon for about 4 hours. As long it doesn't get out of hand, the cops (who are there pretty much full time) let it continue.

The closest 1/4 mile strips are Carlsbad which is 70 mi. away and open only a few hours a week, and LACR which is 100 miles away.

This will be great!

The cops let it continue? You must be kidding me! I had a cop trying to give me a racing ticket at a stop light just because there was another Stang right next to me!

Please email me at Icientyouth@cs.com.

Thanks!

There are some industrial areas in Compton and south central LA that are pretty deserted on Sunday afternoon. If you know where they are, you can go see the races. I guess the cops feel that if they stop it, the racers will just move somewhere else.

Also, remember some serious cash changes hands at street races here. I'm sure some of that ends up in, how do I say this without pissing off the police, the hands of enforcement.

I personally know a guy with an caged, tubbed
nitrous, big block powered, XXXXXXX. It runs 9's at the strip. He won't start it up for less that a $1000 a race.

Street racing is soooo prevalent in this town, there is no way to totally eliminate it. Pomona Raceway was started 50 years ago as a place to race off of the streets. We really do not have any drag strips close any more, that run many hours.

Something had to be done. The track at Rialto is 1/8 mi, as is the proposed track at Irwindale. A lot of guys do not like to run 1/8.

There is also some street races around here in Santa Fe Springs with some decent cars. I usually go to Carlsbad, oh, and, Lincoln, its open from 1-6 every Saturday, not very long, but its still a strip to race.

HyE_bolt, good old SFS Road. I used to work there. We're going to Famosa Friday. Do you want to go with us?

I'm off of Imperial Hwy. in La Habra.

It's a Miller brewery now. The new Irwindale Raceway is an asphalt oval with a 1/8 mi. strip under construction.
