Red face Caught a decent race today

Like any other day, i'm always lookin for that one car that looks like their tough ***** and tryin to pick a race with the L and today i found one. At first, i thought i would blow the doors off of this guy, actually, i though it was going to be a joke to race him. He was in an older model Mitsubishi eclipse or something that said Taylon or somthin like that on the back and it didn't sound like your typical rice. We pull up to the signal and i can hear him bringin his rpm's up, it was a stick. I look over and he looks back, and we wait for the light to turn. It turns and we were off. He got the jump on me, i was checkin out some hot girls in a stang behind me, so i put the pedal to the floor and catch him by the end of the intrsection and i can hear he missed second and i just flew right by him. Then, you know how it is, he wanted more, so he followed me about a block or so, and we lined up at a signal which has a slight grade goin up for about a mile. Light goes green and we both mash it, can barely see him, even though hes in my blind spot, and by 80 he was about 2-3 car lenghts behind me. I could see the expression on his face when he saw this truck pullin like a **** on him and his little rice. Even though i won, i still give the guy some credit. When we raced, i heard a nice whining when he got on the throttle, not sure if it was a turbo of some sort or what, but it certainly kept him hangin for a little while. Well, just thought i'd let you guys in on the decent amount of fun i had today.

Thumbs up

Good job Hye_BoLt! That was an Eagle Talon that you raced. Looks almost identical to the Eclipse. AWD, Turbo..very nice cars if kept in shape. And they are possible of running some real quick times if worked right. Keep surprising those people. I think the best, "Oh *****!" look I got from someone I beat was a guy and his buddy in a 00 Vette.....he wouldn't drop the idea that I was stock. I told him to go research the Lightnings more. Cool guy though. He gave me a thumbs up as we parted ways..

Those little TSI's are badboys. They usually will waste most anything off the line if awd, some are only fwd though. Cool race.

Yes these cars if set up well can really run. I raced one that was running 20 pounds of boost. He can run the 1/4 in 12.00 @5000 feet.

Yup those Talon TSI cars are great when they are kept up. Not much work to get them to run quicker.

You are telling me, here's a link to the baddest one in the state of Alaska.

http://www.geocities.com/tsi2nv/

I am just glad I met this guy at the track, and not on the street. He's got me by HALF A SECOND to 60 FEET! (1.6 vs. 2.1-2.2) 11.91@115 is pretty darn fast for a stock looking 93 talon. Every chance I get, I try to 3-way with him, against a Vette, or an unsuspecting F-bod

"Do you mind if he lines up, he just gets race gas and thinks he's quick, why would anyone mod a car that looks like that?"

Then say say sure, and then we both get raped by the talon.

I must say I have been waiting to line up against a L in my 1990 TSi AWD Mopar Powered(LOL) Eagle. My car is in great shape and pulls really hard (few mods). I have yet to go to the stip but stock TSi's pull low 14s stock. So I am guessing about low 13s out of mine. The way you launch an AWD is you hold the RPMs around 5K and when the light changed you sidestep the clutch and hope nothing breaks. ;-) I don't even waste my clutch anymore on Mustang GTs or Z28s...Got to be a Cobra or SS or a great looking Lighting... Now before anyone posts nonsense about being able to whoop my ****. I am not to surprised. 380 HP should be able to. I like a good contest though. All in good fun really. BTW. I love my new SCrew. Too bad I can't get a L with four doors.

I raced a Talon AWD Turbo (I used to own one BTW) in my Pontiac Trans Am, and he ate my dinner for about a block, and then I kicked his butt. They do incredible launches, and some of them (modded) keep going!

We ran into a guy running at the street legal races in Pomona last year. Running 11.0's with 4WD Eclipse. Unbelievable!

It made sometinig like 400 Hp, but had $25,000 in the engine, trans., clutch, traction devices.

Can you imagine how fast our L's would run with that much in mods? How about a nitroused 514 at about 1000 Hp? Tubs, 4link, and money left over.
