Sensor Replacement Necessary?
Alright guys my truck recently sent off code p1406...which I know from searching through the forums is the DPFE Sensor downstream hose off or clogged. I've been reading that there were problems with the DPFE sensor from the factory and that usually is what causes it. I wanted to know that if I have checked the hoses (they were both attached), and everything seems fine if it would be safe to assume that the problem is the sensor. I ask this because money is tight and I really don't want to be part shopping/replacing if it is not necessary. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. The truck is an 02 Harley with about 50k on it.
The hoses are only about 6" long and connect to the EGR tube. Although you could get them backwards It should be obvious because they would physically cross over each other if they were not right.
Downstream hose / fitting may be clogged with soot - disconnect them and clean them out. If you still have the problem - let me know - I've got my dpfe sitting around in a box somewhere in the garage.

Well I disconnected both hoses and cleaned them out, they werent clogged so I am guessing its a sensor problem. I reset the computer and the light has yet to come back on...its only been about one hundred miles though. I will definitely buy that sensor off you Bird if the light pops up again.
