Post longer belt with new pulley?

I had been thinking about this and then someone in another post said they used a longer belt with their new pulley. I know it is not necessary, however I had thought that when installing a larger pulley it might put an increased amount of stress on the blower snout.

Sal or Spiro, what do you think. I do not want to put too much stress on the snout and have bearing problems or something.

Would using a larger belt cause any problems or would it be a good idea to prevent problems.

Any help.

Paul

Paul,
I am currently using the OEM belt that came with my truck. With the trucks previous but older set-up of a smaller upper, it required me to run a shorter belt GATES/NAPA 080660 belt.

With the addition of the PSP lower pulley, I did not need to add a longer belt because of tight fit.
I know some have replaced them to a longer one, but I did not need to with my truck...why?? Not sure..but I do know there could be possibly some diffferences in belt length, and stretch amounts from company to company, and especially with high mileage L's.

I personally DO NOT feel that keeping the shorter belt will "weaken" or "hurt" the snout bearings on these blowers. One thing to realize is that we have an idler tensioner..not a stationary one like PAXTON or VORTECH supercharger kits...Ex: You run into problems like that when your too tight to begin with, especially with COG pulleys systems. If your too tight, you will surely see some kind of problem with the bearings...I have..but only on Mustangs with COG PULLEY systems or stationary tentioner pulleys...not the spring loaded like we have.
