Post Best 2001 fuel economy??????

Well, just wanted to share. On our latest trip, we had one tank that went 19.27mpg. This is not on flat ground either....... although there were more downhills than uphills (one climb is up to 7200ft).

Damn..... I was impressed !!!!!

Even on the return tank..... with one serious burnout and alot of messing around and in town driving we got 15.67mpg.

This is all with the A/C on.

Truck has 4500 miles on it so far. To say I am impressed would be an understatement.

I know we didn't buy these vehicles for their fuel economy. However, they can do damn good in my opinion. Of course the worst mileage to date has probably been the one tank that was 99% 1/4 mile trips to the shop and home........ that was about 11.75mpg.

How has everyone else been doing?

Thumbs up

Yeah,
we got very good mileage on a recent trip from Plains down to Austin and coming back through Fredricksburg. Just shy of 1000 miles, we averaged 16.5 mpg. Now keep in mind, this was withought hot rodding and such and running the A/C most of the trip. My daily commute,(105 miles of stopping and turning, fighting head winds ETC...this includes hitting the loud pedal now and again) is a different story, as we get Approx 12 mpg or less, even if we don't exceed the speed limit, save for the loud pedal episode(s)

The 2000L we traded in with the 3.55 gear got an exceptional 18 miles per gallon under like driving conditions on road trips.

I had one tank that was used only on the autoX track, 8 mpg ! That includes a lot of warmup and idling and of course, 1 minute runs at WOT in 2nd gear...

Maybe it's just me....I see alot of posts on gas mileage and people yaking about fuel prices.....

Why drive a Lightning when you can have a focus and complain about the Kaka performance?

Sorry, i had to vent! Im not directing this toward anyone....but for those of you that do..EAT UP!!!

It's not about Miles Per Gallon, it's about Smiles Per Mile...

You know, this is strange, but my '01 gets better mileage than my '99 did. I'm averaging 25 to 50 more a tank.

WHY?
