X is A-plan plus 4%. I'm not sure exactly the difference to figure A-plan, but I thought it was invoice minus 4.5%?
I know X-plan on my '01 L came out to about 150 below invoice. Plus they are not required to charge doc fees which further saves you money (in my case 500).

A Plan is the employee discount.
X Plan is for suppliers and some other groups affiliated with Ford.
X Plan is less restictive, but A Plan will give you a better price.

X-Plan really works!
After getting turned-down by just about every dealer in the state of Texas, I got flooded with responses from out-of-state dealers offering me Ls in stock at X-Plan.
At the end I had firm offers from dealers in Mobile... Pensacola... and Virginia Beach...
Luckily a dealer in Houston came thru and I didn't have to fly out of state to pick-up my truck.
My point is don't give up, after getting tons of NO, and keep trying/calling/emailing until you find the L you are looking for.
Good luck,

I was at duthler ford in grand rapids michigan today, and not only will they honor x plan but will ship anywhere in the u.s. for 2-300.00 They have six 01's all colors and the guy to talk to is duke at 616-575-6595 or 616-8132448
A/Z are the same thing, 3% below dealer. "A" is for active employees and imediate family, "Z" is for retirees and imediate family.

I called Duke, here's the deal $28918.24 plus $10.00 transit plate fee. I'm from Boston shipping to Boston would cost a lot of money, he will honor the $300 but someone will drive it from Mich to Boston rather than a transport company, also one other problem I did own a 99 black lightning and had all sorts of problems with it, head gasket leak, intercooler leak, broken passanger seat, front end clunk.Traded truck in but still miss it.I've been following this board occasionally and have noticed the problems seem to be far and between and hopefully everythings been taken care of.
Is it worth having someone drive the truck to Boston or should I continue trying closer dealers or maybe even trying to set up some kind of a gumball rally, where different L owners from Mich to Boston drive to other L owners til it reaches me.

Barlitz2, don't know what to tell you but i paid 31,400 from the same dealer for an 00.I can tell you philly is 10 hours or so cause i just drove it from grand rapids last thursday.I would fly here and drive it back myself, unless of course you can find one for the same price in the color you prefer in beantown.

I believe I took their last 2001L as the other silver they had (I was debating between the silver and the red) was gone when I picked-up my red last Saturday).
