Just got back from TN with my new L and can't get the crap-eatin' grin off my face! Thanks to all who let us know about the X-plan from EAA. Truck drives and handles great(especially on the straights). Sad part is that after the 236 mile trip back to GA. I noticed a rattle from the engine when I pulled in the driveway. Definately didnt make this sound during the trip or the test-drive. I'm pretty sure it is a bad pulley or tensioner of some sort. I really hope this is the only thing that goes wrong. If so I'll be VERY happy.

By the way, I ended up with the white one at Jerry Duncan Ford in Harriman, TN. All the other colors seemed to show swirls really bad and I'm picky like that! lol. The Black looked very sweet though. They still have 2 reds, 1 black, and 1 silver. A great small-town dealership to buy from.

Congrats Frank! I'm in Lawrenceville GA and found an x plan at Rome. Mine is black and I just waxed it for the first time, you won't miss eying the truck at odd angles to see the 'swirls' ;-)

 

SBB: Harriman is approx. 30 miles west of knoxville on hwy. 27. No problems whatsoever with the X-plan. Was out the door with my new L in less than 2 hours. People are kind and no high-pressure type sales pushes. Happy hunting!

 

Congrats to you to Mike! I live about 15 minutes from you in Hall Co. We'll have to check each others trucks out. I got the run-around from all the dealers here in Atlanta. My uncle lives in Harriman TN so I figured if the deal fell through I'd just hang out with him for the weekend.

 

Frank, I know what you mean about the runaround at certain Atlanta dealers. I went through a few potential horror stories but the advice from this board prompted me to hold out for a receptive dealer and that makes the truck that much more enjoyable! The fiancee is happy too!
I just turned 1000 miles, had the first oil change and have finally opened it up. If you baby it, the first time is very nice ;-) A cool moist night will flatten your eyeballs but I'm sure you're waiting until you break in ;-)

I did the same thing and also picked up my 2001L on Saturday.
Was trying to decide between silver and red and it was really hard to make up my mind but red finally won over at the end...
Let us know what that vibration turns out to be when you have your new L checked?
