Its that down shift in second gear that really has me spooked. I would have your tranny guy call Trans-go. They have real good tech line, and I would use it.

When you had the transgo valve body installed, did you keep the stock one? Would swap the original back in and compare if you still have it. Good Luck!

George,

I know nothing about these transmissions, so I can't help much. But I noticed something about mine for the first time yesterday that was interesting. I was creeping along in bumper to bumper traffic at around 2-3 mph in OD, still kinda on the brake, which is 1st gear. I was bored and put it in 2nd to see what it would do, because I know if you're stopped and take off in 2nd, it starts there and stays there. Well, as soon as I shifted to 2nd at ~3 mph, it upshifted instantly. It was kinda wierd, and the rpms really dropped for a split second.

What I'm getting at is what others have said too. I think your "2nd" downshifts should not be happening at all and your problem is entirely in that area. Maybe a pressure related problem? I'd try the valve body swap too.

The 2M position should not shift to 1st gear, when in 2M, the band is deployed on the intermediate brake drum (this is the only time the band engages) so it should be "locked" into 2nd gear, on the upsift period. It will hold the 3-2 downshift in 2M until the RPMs lower to a shift point, but no way should it go to 1st gear. Are you sure it's not the converter locking up?

For what it's worth, I just got back from a test trip in my 01. The truck is stock except for a JL ramair. I put the gear selector in 2, and couldn't get it do downshift no mater how hard I pushed the go petal. I only went to 40/45 in 2 (raining hard now) but it didn't upshift. Hope you get your problems sorted out Doggy. Good Luck
