Angry The one thing I HATE about my L

My 00 never did this. When getting onto a freeway ramp or easing on the brakes, the damn seatbelt locks me down so I can't lean forward and check my mirrors. This really pisses me off when I hit the gas to enter the freeway and can't lean forward to check and make sure to time entry onto the freeway. I have to backoff in order to wait for the mechanism to disengage. Actually, I think it's not safe. I HATE IT!!!

I used to hate it when I would try to turn the radio up, hit a bump, and turn it off. Fixed that by installing an aftermarket.

Funny you say this, but my '99 never did it either. My '01 does quite a bit however and it does get quite annoying.

I do know there is a TSB already out on the seatbelt warning charm on the '01s. For gosh sakes, you can't even sit in your truck parked idling w/ the A/C on and enjoy your radio w/out that blasted bell/buzzer coming on ever 30 seconds.

Regarding seat belt chimes, you may be able to turn that off without going to the dealers. At least with the '01 F150 Harley, you can input a certain chain of commands to turn off the warning chimes. Your mileage may vary with L's. I don't have my manual here with me at work so I can't tell you what the chain is, but it involves a rather complicated steps. Check your manuals.

------------------
Early 90's Ford Probe -- mods: stereo stolen to reduce total weight. Speed gain negligible, unfortunately.
Late 80's Honda Spree scooter -- mods: plastic milk crate tied to the back to carry one and a half bags of grocery. Custom-made cafeteria tray-like hard plastic tonneau cover to keep the grocery bags dry in rain.
'89 Honda CBR600F1 -- mods: Newtonian Physics mod, courtesy of 30 mph collision with a VW Rabbit. Suitably chagrined.
'92 Toyota 4Runner -- mods: Rugged Exterior Package, of mud and occasional dings and dents. Free of charge.
'95 Mustang GT Conv. -- mods: hey, no joking around this one. This was my baby.
'99 Lexus RX300 -- mods: Good looking girlfriend mod. Costs continues to add up. Honk and throw money.
'01 F150 Harley. mods: Beautiful gf mod climbed off Lexus and climbed on F150. Darn! (j/k, honey ) Dealer mod: an ugly dealer plate holder in front. Gotta... get it... OFF!

Cool, I found it too. It's on page 120 of the new 2001 F150 Owner's Guide.

I use to have a Toyota Tacoma and that thing would do that all the time and it was extremely annoying. I now have no problems with my 00'L. Was it just on the 01's?

Are you guys talking about a chime that "reminds" you to put you seat belt on. Mine must have been turned off already. All I get if I don't put my seat belt on is a light in the dash.

WHAT i really hate is...the "clickit or ticket" campaign that just finished up here in ga. all(?) law enforcement statewide set up roadblocks to check for seatbelt usage. now, i use my seatbelt all the time...even had a 5-point simpson harness in my daily-driver camaro z281le. but, what pisses me off is this gestapo mentality of our dictator...the governor of atlanta(not georgia!), Roy Barnes. if i had been stopped, i would have unbuckled just to **** with their minds(i know, it's not the cops fault).

and if i had been caught unbuckled...no ticket...as long as you're over 18(i'm waaaay over) and driving a PICKUP TRUCK(in ga.). forgive the 'off topic'. dan

"nothin' but a bunch a low-life white trash drinkin' too much cheap alcohol"

"I don't take s**t from guys who drive Lightnings," the cop said. "You're speedin' when you're sittin' on the parkin' ramp."

You're KIDDING me? WoW, AL just started that campaign last month. I had no idea that you guys were doing it in that fasion. That's about the most retarded thing I have ever heard???

In AL they can now pull you over to CHECK for your seatbelt usage. They used to have to pull you over for doing something illegal other than that. Now they can whenever they want to (most likely it was something about illegal search and seizure that was delaying this).

Anyhoo, as long as you're driving a pickup truck and over 18 no ticket but under 18 a ticket? That's S T U P I D!!!

You guys can go the the dealer and have them turn off the beltminder. The first thing I did when I got home with my 01, was hook up the NGS and shut that damn thing off .

Sal, is your seatbelt in your new '01 noticeably more responsive like we are stating?
