Post puff of smoke

I noticed a little puff of smoke first thing this morning when i started up my L.

Now it has been getting down into the low to mid 30's the last couple of nights and I was wondering if this could be because of the forged pistons and the loose fit when cold.

Any suggestions or is this fairly normal. I did notice yesterday, and again today this is the first I noticed of it and the truck only has about 450 miles. It sounds fine and it only puts out a little puff first thing in the morning. It does not do it any other time in the day even if the engine is cold.

It is supposed to warm up again and I will see if it does it over the next couple of days as it warms up.

I am not too worried as the truck pulls hard just like it has and everything sounds fine (no weird banging or noises).

What do you think, should I be concerned or not.

Thanks Paul

Look in the throttle body, betcha see oil. It's coming from the PCV. Try changing that and check oil level. As to whether it's a problem, dunno, but mine's done it since incept. Just not all the time.

If it only blows smoke out the exhaust @ first startup, USUALLY means you have some bad valve stem seals. Doesnt hurt anything, other than your pride! Warranty will fix ya right up. I had two chevy trucks that did this and both times it was the valve stem seals.

When I put my new heads on my truck, they did it for about 2-3 weeks... then it stopped...

Maybe need to break in more? I noticed you have a 01... :-/

Yeah it is a 2001 and it does need to be broke in more it only has 500 miles on it and I only noticed in the last two days when it has been very cold in the 30's at night and so it probably just needs to be broke in more.

Thanks
Paul
