Post Looking for trouble

I am getting ready to do some mods and was wondering what everyones take is.

I am thinking about doing the psp filter kit and lower pulley kit.

Is this a good start or should I think about doing the chip first.

I have read some older posts about people spinning the blower to fast and was wondering if the lower pulleys spin the blower too fast or is it safe.

I am looking for experienced opinions. I will probably do the air kit regardless. But my main question is should I look at other mods or is the pulley a good idea.

Also, with just the pulley and air filter setup will this make much of a difference in the truck. I want to see it scream, but not die.

If I do these two mods will the stock programming be ok or do I need to get a chip to accomadate these mods.

Any help
Paul

The chip is the best bang for your buck. There are 3-4 reputable tuners. Do your own research to decide which one you are comfortable with.

I don't have the pulley yet but I'm putting one on my 01 in the near future. I haven't heard of problems and there are alot of reports that it is the next best mod to a chip n' filter.

Look at the post called Factory Airbox. I would mod your stock box it performs very well and saves a 100 bucks. The MAF will compensate for the pulley. Everyone loves them so far. Boost comes in earlier. I ordered a 4 way chip from PSP I think they are the only ones making 4 programs. I would at least get a 2 way chip so your can roll stock program when towing or real hot to avoid detonation and hard shifts. Then have #2 be the street program for barking 2nd and 3rd gear shifts. I bought four because I want stock, autocross, street, valet mode which limits to 30mph and low boost.

your going to see the bigest performance gain from a chip. but the pulley is allot of fun too.

I would so a chip first. you have a 90 mm mass air already. do a four way though. there nice to have for down the road when you add NOS.
