NEW YORK L's Help!! (long)
can someone in new york tell me if thier window sticker says it has california emmisions. Heres my problem:
i ordered an 01 in april ,waited 9 weeks to get the truck, picked it up last tuesday,im from ny i bought the truck in nj,after having the truck a week dealer calls me and says the truck dont have california emmisions and dmv wont register the truck.
now they are saying they cant get me another one from a new york dealer, and the other 3 in stock dont have the ca emmisions either.
so now they want the truck back.i waited all this time .i have the truck a week now i gotta give it back.this sucks,if anyone knows about this stuff with the emmisions, please let me know. They are also saying the truck cant be converted to this ca stuff after it is built and dmv can tell from the vin#.also they were fully aware i was from ny and included ny tax and dmv fees on my original reciept when i ordered the truck, why no one realized it i have no idea.
i already called the ford customer relationship center and they said its between me and the dealer, they cant do anything, also called svt they said the truck is 50 state legal and werent familiar with local emmision stuff in ny.
sorry for the long post but im burnt.

Having lived on this board for over a year now, this is one of the first posts regarding California emissions on a Lightning. To the best of my knowledge, Lightnings do not require "CA emissions" since they are a truck.
Marcus? Alphadoggy?

The emissioms are all the same. 50 state legal. No difference. Take it to your DMV and have them check it out.

This dealer is blowing smoke up your ***. Sounds as if someone else may have ordered it and had a deposit on it or something, and they might have threatening litigation from this guy.
Don't give in...if you've ALREADY signed the bottom line, you own that truck (well, your bank does if you financed it). You don't have to return jack by law.
If it REALLY is an emissions situation they are responsible for selling you a vehicle w/out proper emissions. BUT, this truck is 50 state street legal and is also classified as an LEV (Low Emissions Vehicles). It's still a truck, though, which is exempt from just about anything any state throws at it.
And don't worry, if you put your vehicle on a sniffer it'll pass w/ flying colors.

If they insist on your returning said vehicle, at least put a few "miles" on the rears.
tell em to go pi$$ up a rope.</font>

Have they never sold a Lightning before? I believe emissions packages weren't an option. Totally weird.

Yea I didnt think there was any difference for CA emissions on these trucks. There is no high-altitude emissions option either. I think what someone else said was right - they may be trying to get it back for another reason.
