You need grease on the steering stops. It will stop the noise. This has happened since 99.

I now have 1750 miles on my truck and it is making a (clunk ?) popping sound and am wondering if that is the sound everybody is talking about ? Thanks for the help in advance .

 

I have an 01' also, only 1400 miles so far.

Don't know what the clunk sounds like either.

But I have noticed that when I turn the wheel all the way to the left/or right I hear a noise.

 

Look on your driver's side valve cover and let me know what your build date is.

The noise you are saying it is making will happen under tight turning or backing up or going forward when you are say leaving your driveway and having to dip down out of a water gulley.
