Definetly go with some cosmetic stuff if you want to just cruise around in her.

a new hood $850 painted and installed
Fiberglass bed cover $900 painted and installed
lowering kit $500 bucks, install it yourself.
billet grilles $300 bucks install your self.

93 Ford Escort-$2000
that way you wouldn't even have to consider using it for daily driving Don't get me wrong I drive the living #%@* out of mine. Not gonna pay $30,000 for something to look pretty in the garage.

Seriously, I'd go with a hard bed cover, a hood, and a chip and filter. Or if your just into cosmetics, I'd go with the 3/5 drop, bed cover and the chrome wheels.

I am looking for performance and reliability mod's. I dont want to lower it and I have a ExTang soft cover for the bed. I still need to be able to use it as a truck sometimes. I have heard some great suggestions so far. Since it is really only used for the street I don't want it on the ragged edge. Thanks for the input and please keep the suggestions rolling my way.

PS.

Good suggestion but I think the divorce would cost me more than the 2 grand.

my former employer was a Mexican/American who had a plaque in his office, that he translated to me to say:
"the good life is expensive, there are other ways, but, thats not life"
So God status does not come cheap.

ps: his divorce cost him about 2mil, but damn, did he have fun!

Shift-kit
Gears
Intake-kit
Ram-air

And I would top all that off with a 4-way chip. Why go with a flip that limits you to only 2 programs, when you could have a 4-way. For example with mine.. I have

1-Stock
2-PSP STREET PROGRAM
3-PSP RACE PROGRAM
4-PSP NITROUS PROGRAM

hope this helps

Post Best Mod's for $2000.00 budget.

I am going to be spending a little money on my truck. For a budget of $2000.00 what kind of parts should I be looking at. The truck is a 2000 model and is bone stock as it sits right now. Any opinions of if a shift kit and converter would beef up the transmission enough so I would not have problems down the road? This is not a drag strip truck just my toy sometime daily driver. Any and all help is welcomed.

John..

For 2 grand I would do this.
1) Air intake $150
2) 2 way chip $325 I reccomend 2 way for stock mode retention in case of towing or detonation on hot days bad gas etc...
3) Lower pulley $250 if power is your priority.
4) New speakers for better sound 2 pair Pioneer 3 way 6865, 2 way? 6855 or so $75 a pair $150 F&R.
5) Valentine One radar locator $400
6)RETRAX bed cover $850 group rate to stabilize airflow and secure the bed storage area.
7) 4WD trans pan $30 extra capacity and drain plug.
I think that would be a NICE starting point.

My opinions:

1. Chip and Filter- Good for street.
2. NGK TR6 or 7 plugs.
3. Blower Pulley- Good for street.
4. Drive Shaft Loop- Safety.
5. Shift Kit- Good for street.
6. M/T Street ET's- Good for Strip.
7. Power Cooler- Good for Strip.
8. Torque Converter- Good for Strip.

Numbers 1-7 will probably use most of your money if you do the installs yourself.
