Question Webmaster - Crash Test Threads ?

Webmaster, I just came accross a crash test thread that you closed because it belongs in the Safety forum. I am confused. I went and reviewed all the forums, and there are a lot of them, we have forums for Audio Systems, Exhaust systems, Wheels and tires, Computer chips, Bed liners, Exhuast systems and tires. I see posts relating to these topics all the time in the Lightning Forum, why is this?

I do not have any problem with any of the posts, I just don't understand why safety issues must go to a different forum while any other topic seems to be fair game on the Lightning forum?

I think that many of the other L owners like myself value the opinions of other L owners and we tend to post on this forum. I do not review the other forums. Just not enough time. I do however think that saftey is an important topic to L owners. No one gets into an accident on purpose. Sometimes we don't pay attention, other times you just get creamed from out of the blue. When an accident happens you just hope the good Lord is watching out for you and your truck was well built. As fast as the L goes this matters a lot.

I am sure that I am not the only one that wondered about these issues. I thank you in advance for any insight you can offer us on your thought process regardinig saftey posts on the Lightning Forum. Thanks.

Ditto.

Plus, I was wondering if you want these specific rules to apply maybe you should put this on the link to the Lightning Forum to save yourself much time by having to delete or lock or move these posts.

Hey guys, the deal is that it IS posted at the top of EVERY forum intro page. He wants it in the safety forum, plain and simple. The Lightning is an F150, and there isn't any reason why we can't go to another forum to get info. This place isn't a lounge, although it's used for that. It's getting tooooo cluttered in here.

WE REALLY NEED A WHOLE LIGHTNING UBB TO ITSELF.

I'm up for setting one up once I get space on a server. I don't use any of the other forums, but in all actuality I don't need the safety bullitin either cause I can turn on CNN etc.
If you are going to Limit what the Lighting community can use on these boards to specific Lightning only topics than half of everything on here would be deleted and it would probably pretty boring. I mean I would get tire of reading on I/C leaks, Clunk, Chips etc. Just MHO.

I am sure most of you are aware by now, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently released its offset crash test results on the F150.
Because of the nature of the results, there are many concerned and angry F150 owners on these boards.

For the sake of everyone, I am asking that you confine your discussions of this topic to the proper forum, "Safety & Maintenance."

This is a subject that potentially concerns all F150 owners, not specifically Lightning, Supercrew, etc.

Any and all threads from this point forward that are started on this subject that are not in the appropriate forums will be deleted or moved. We do not need 100 thread across a dozen forums stating the same thing.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Seems pretty clear to me ...

Where did you bring that up from? I looked in announcements and on the main page. I didn't see it either place??? Is it from a Thread that is buried?

Amen,
I've been posting here a hell of a lot longer than a lot of people. the fact is, if I want to communicate with people on this board, it's the LIGHTNING owners that my conversation is, for the most part directed at. I don't want to go to other forums to post questions, answers, or general BS to my LIGHTNING friends. On the opposite side, that would clutter up a totally different forum. But I guess it's not my site, and most of the people I need to talk to or want to get a response from I can contact via email. Really, I don't need to post here at all. So I won't. If you guys want to get ahold of me you have my email, or you can catch me, not being bounced from one forum to another by the moderators on Ford vs Chevy or SVTPerformance.

Well, I have wondered about the some of the strict locking down of threads myself at times. I can certainly see closing a thread when it just devolves into a mudfest, but whats next? If I ask a stereo question, will it be moved to the Audio forum? Strangely, those threads havent been moved. So how/what/when are the guidelines for what can and cannot be discussed here in this forum? I also do not have the time to check 16 different forums - all I care about is the Lightning.

If this is the way everyone feels, all of the Lightning community should go over to ezboard.com, and start a lightning message board for free. If enough people want to do this, I can go set it up and we can talk about whatever we want. Just a thought.

I don't think this is too difficult to figure out. Audio posts, exhaust posts, etc... who knows maybe the parts used have an 'SVT' emblem on them and they should rightly be in the Lightning Forum.

The webmaster wisely saw the oncoming flood of posts as a result of the crash tests and performed preventitive housekeeping in 'ALL' forums. If you haven't checked, there have been 27 topics with nearly 300 replies in the last ten days solely about the crashes. They were moved to Safety from all over the Board.

There's a little letter door at the top of the screen on each Forum so the webmaster can communicate with you, in case you don't go to other forums to see the 'big picture'.

Cool

The last time I looked, the stereo in a Lightning was the same as in a "regular" F150. If you have a stereo related question, you could probably find your answer and maybe more in one of the Audio System forums. Also it would probably be easier to find your answer there, instead of having to look through 2 or 3 pages of topics with new posts every day. Lightnings, as much as I love 'em, are still F150s. I don't understand why some of you get upset at the thought of having to post in a different forum. Alot of you have alot of good info on different subjects that other people on this message board would benefit from if it was posted in the proper forum. For instance, if you discuss what kind of wax you find works the best, if you posted it in the general care forum, then everyone would benefit, not just the Lightning owners. The Lightnings paint is the same as all other F150s. Seems pretty simple to me.

Unhappy

You people forget that before there was a Lightning running on the road, there was an F150. Your base truck is an F150 reg. cab, short box, whether you like it or not, that is plain and simple. No if, and's or but's about, the Lightning is an F150, bottom line. This is F150online !!! Steve was gracious enough to have subsections for each individual series of F trucks. ie. Superscrew, Superduty, etc. Steve is trying to keep things well sorted out and a crash test conversation whether it is started by a Lightning owner or not, it belongs in the Safety section, no where else !!!
