Post Got my speed grille, I need help installing it

I got my street scenes speed grille. I need help or advice in installing it. Does anyone know any tricks or is it a pretty easy job?
Does anyone have pictures of the installation? I think I've seen some before but I can't remember where.
Thanks,
Hugo

One of the bigger truck mags had a article on installing a grill. They had to remove the front clip for the top grill, but the lower grill was install in place.

If i find the article I will post the mag and page # for you.

Please post photos after you are done. I plan to do the same to my white L when I get it in July.

It is a pretty easy job.You do not have to remove the bottom but you do the top grill and shell.I pulled out the bottom and used small sheetmetal screws to mount it as I did not like the way they monuted it in the instructions.Just pre drill your holes if you do this.Mounted speed grill in factory shell. The top grill is easy to do,remove factory grill and shell , unbolt Ford emblem, bolt emblem on new grill, insert speed grill and push the clips over the back until the clip reaches through and grabs back of speed grill. The instructions are not real good but not a hard job, should take about 1 hr tops.

Thumbs up

You mean that on the lower valence grill you just place the speed grill over it? Then you just attach it with the clips? That sounds too easy. I'm busy today so I probably won't come around to installing it tomorrow.
I haven't received my top grill yet either so i'm no in too much of a hurry. I have place it over the lower valence grill and it does look killer.
Thanks for the advice.

The article was in the June 2001 issue of Truckin, Page 214-216. They were installing a grille from Trnez, but same procedure. Hope this helps you.

Please post some photos after you complete the job.....

Hugo,Yes I just put the speed grill over the stock grill. In the directions it said to remove the stock one and leave it out and put the speed grill in with clips from the bottom, but I did not like the way it held it in.I put the speed grill in the stock grill (removed grill for ease of access)and did not use the clips, just used screws in about 8 places. You cannot see screws and if I ever remove it you can never see holes. The top grill shell is a little harder to remove but the instructions they give you are o.k. and are clearer for the top than they were for the bottom.

I had a Street Scene Grill on my '97 F150. I did not like the attaching hardware which came with the grill, so I used black plastic wire ties, six of them to be exact. The wire ties held the grill securely in place and could not be seen once the grill was installed. I do not know how this would work on your F150, but it might be worth a try. It sure made installation quite a bit easier. Be careful when inserting the grill, otherwise you might scatch the paint on your F150. My Street Scene Grill had been distorted on the edges during shipment, so I had to bend the outside edges back into shape.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I put my lower valence grill in and I went with the plastic tie wraps. It looks sharp and it only took my about 15 minutes. Again it was only the bottom grill. The top grill is in back order so I haven't received that one yet. I can't wait 'til I get it. I've gotten compliments on how good it looks already, and I haven't even put the top one on.
Sorry I can't post pics, I don't have a digital camera nor a scanner to post them.
But believe me i looks sharp!

Glad you liked the tie wrap idea... I don't know why the manufacturer did not think of that in the first place. It makes installation a lot easier and holds the grill securely.
