Would internally balanceing the pistons, rods, and crank help with this problem? I know it is very expensive to do because we did it on our DOHC LSC motor were building for the T-Bird. But I think balanceing the bottom end would help...

Question

Does anyone know how to get the factory warranty extended? I'd rather not have an aftermarket warranty if possible.

HUM.
1st oil change - 3000 miles - oil looked good
2nd oil change - 6000 miles - oil looked ok
3rd oil change - 9000 miles - oil looked bad
4th oil change - 12000 miles - ditto
5th oil change - 15000 miles - ditto
6th oil change - 18000 miles - ditto
7th oil change - 21000 miles - oil looked ok
8th oil change - 24000 miles - oil looked ok

I bet I don't have anymore coating on my pistons and rattling.

So sal whats the solution. I love this truck to much to give it up because of some slapping.

Would pulling the motor and replacing the pistons with custom made blower pistons do the trick.

I was thinking about a 351 motor but I still want to keep this truck drivable on the street.

I think I'm just going to order a new 2001 motor, replace the pistons with customs made one, port and polish the intakes and heads and then throw it all back together. Maybe pick up a few more ponies with the porting and polished, but my buddy eddie that you met does it in his garage for free for me. he does some bad *** work too. that blue stang running 9.50 first time out was one of his cars. I was thinking about takeing off the eaton and doing a novi, but I'm happy with the truck as it is. If I build up the trans and throw a 8.8 in the rear end It should run consistent high 11's without the nitrous on there and then maybe a 10 with it, HAHAHAHA. maybe. What do you think? the reast of this year is cosmetic changes and this winter is the year of the 2001 motor. what else would you change and do different if you where doing this to your truck. Maybe a new trans that can handle a chit load of abuse. I don't plan on being easy on my truck.

RT,

He's probably already said enough to get him in trouble somewhere down the line. Whether it be with Ford or future sales of chips. This is why I applaud him for his findings and sharing it with us. So I wouldn't look for him to comment any further.

Yes, custom pistons would definitely do the trick. Forged pistons don't have to sound like this. Read my "Rattle on startup" post. Many don't have it. This engine has even more potential than SVT put into it if it's done right. With better than a 4" stroke, this engine is "the bomb" for our blown, heavyweight trucks. There is no reason for our pistons to have "goo" on the skirts to make them silent. What Sal posted originally - enough said.

Jim

Sorry gforce but I want more answers! What is going to happen to these trucks when we hit 70,000-80,000 miles. Will they even make it that long?

Tick, tick, tick. As I said on a different post to Ford. Sing along now.
