LIGHTNING vs. COBRA
HAS ANYONE HERE HAD BOTH? I HAVE A 99 SNAKE NOW AND IM TIRED OF THE RECALLS/POPS/CLUNKS/VIBES/IRS THAT MOST 99'S HAVE AND IM THINKING OF GETTING AN 01 L, MY SNAKE HAD FULL SUSP AND A VORTECH UNTIL TODAY, WOULD I BE HAPPY WITH AN L?? I DONT WANT TO SPEND ONE DAY A WEEK AT THE DEALER AND I DONT WANT A RATTLEBUCKET, THE TOUGHT OF A CHIPNFILTER AND 400RWHP SOUNDS REAL NICE CAUSE I COULD TAKE IT OFF IN 20 MIN TO GO TO THE DEALER....I JUST DONT WANT TO SPEND 28,500 ON A TRUCK I WONT LIKE
well, $28,000 is CHEAP!!! I seen one at my dealer for $32,400. As far as the comparison is concerned I would take an L over a Cobra any day. I have spanked a few Cobras. A 01' L is a very good investment and I highly recommend it.

If you are getting out of a '99 cobra with a Vortec, I think the L will seem really slow!! You better drive it first and get a good feel for it before you buy. I have had three cobras, all stock, '93, '96, '98 and two L's, '00 and an '01. My favorites are the '01 L and the '96 Cobra. The '01 L has it all, in my opinion.... comfort, speed and reliability (so far). The only problem I ever had on any other the vehicles above, was a check engine light on my '98 cobra, during the first mile i drove out of the dealership. Get the L and add the mods. You'll have a great time!

Prior '96 Mystic Cobra owner here and a '95 Vette owner. I now am on my 2nd Lightning ('99 Black and now '01 Silver) and I'm telling you that this is the most fun of all vehicles I've EVER owned. I love Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes, but there is NO comparision for overallness (is that a word?) hehe.
