Talking Silver State Classic Photos and Invite

May 2001, Nevada desert between Ely and Las Vegas was the site of the last Silver State Classic. For some of you, this is old news. For the rest of you, check this out! Last years winner in the 130 MPH class was a Lightning. This year, NO Lightnings showed up. Mostly Corvettes,Porsches and two pick up trucks.

I went with a friend in a Z06/@ 130 MPH class. Top allowable tech speed was 165. We did exactly that with little effort.

Attached is the link to my ZING site for more photos. Expect to see mostly a red Z06 and yellow C5 (2000).

Take a good look at photos 20 and 21. Tell me what is wrong with the picture!!

I want to see if anyone wants to run in next May's Silver State Classic Run? It would be great to have a large Lightning presence.

If interested, check out SILVERSTATECLASSIC ON THE web. Also check out the ZING site if you want to look at some pictures.

I THINK THIS IS RIGHT!!!!!!

Sorry to correct you but the SilverState and now the GoldRush are held in Sept., the NORRA is in May,that stands for the Nevada Open Road Race. There was a Lightning that was reguistered[sp](me) but after the miss fortunes of an earlier event I had to cancell, but I am already entered in the #3 Sept events. My target speed will be 135 then 140 and finially 145 in the SilverState.
Was this your first time? There is an event in Aug in Elko will you be there?Hope to meet up with you,all the competitors are great to be around,we always seem to have fun and get into just enough trouble to stay out of jail.Stan
I might be looking for nav in 2 of the events in Sept.,any takers?

Exclamation

A Lightning won the 135MPH class in the Silver State Classic last Sept., not the 130MPH class.

Hey Stan,
Throw my hat into the ring for the co-pilot seat. Sounds like fun. How far out of Las Vegas is it?

Cool

Very cool pictures. Seems like an awesome event. I might want to check that out sometime. I KNEW I've seen that Z06 license plate before. I parked next to him at the California Speed Meet, when I had my Camaro. Say you wouldn't happen to know who the beautiful lady riding in the Black Vette was do you??

Yes indeed, it was Stan Martin who won the 135 mph class in his 1999 Lightning, we were honored to provide his R9 Superchip he used in that win.

I don't know what Stan's screen name is here on F-150 Online, but since a post in this thread was addressed to him, I'm assuming he's here in this thread; if so, Hello Stan & congratulations once again!

If you need any kind of tuning changes for this year's events, corrections for tires, gears, or anything else, just let us know, we're happy to provide any such changes you might need, same as last year.

In #20 and #21, you have one of the new Burgundy Roush Lightnings. You dont have those at YOUR local dealership?

What speed did he manage in that thing?

The Roush was in at 105 target/ speed. He stated that he went faster last year. We are not attending again this year, but will reappear next May. Keep this event open on your calander. Fun was had by all.

Mike Troyer, what other modifications did Stan Martin do to his Lightning to have it run so well?

That was it for the power end of it.Safety was another story.Mike will be getting intouch with you again, but will have to see it I get the heating problem fixed first.Am wanting to go over 170 i figure about 400rwhp should do it.But need to keep cyl cool and decent fuel mileage will run straight 100 no lead.Stan

There were some other items that were on the truck to help enhance the performance of the chip that Mike supplied, but I am not going to say because,I was looking for sponsors to help offset these types of events and the other products that I ran and still run would not step up to the plate to help out.And for what Mike did I am very greatful for without his help we would not of won.I tried a chip from someone else who is supose to be god like at a previous event and all I can say is they have no place in these type of events.Stan
